After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Kerry H says
FABRIC ME!!!
My mom read the name in a Sports Illustrated magazine and really liked it! I guess the name is unisex since she read it about a man named Kerry! Ha!
Haywood Foard says
FABRIC ME! My name (I have four names total) is a combination of my maternal and paternal grandfathers’ names. It’s a mouthful.
Alexandra says
FABRIC ME! I was firstborn and named after my Dad’s grandfather … and when I came out a girl, Alexander became Alexandra! :)
Libby says
FABRIC ME!
Libby was my mom’s coworker’s nickname and she liked it enough to pick it for me.
Valerie C. says
FABRIC ME! The sonographer thought I was going to be a boy, so on the day of, my parents were at a loss as to what to name me. I’m named Valerie after Valerie Bertinelli because One Day at a Time was on the hospital TV and my dad agreed because he had always thought she was hot.
Katie says
Fabric Me! My name is Kathryn Mae. My dad named me after his 2 girls…his wife and his mom. I’m ever grateful he used my grandmother’s middle name, as I don’t think I would have liked Edith very much.
Whosthatdog says
Fabric me! I’m named after my great grandmother <3
Pamela says
FABRIC ME! The timing could not be more perfect for this as I really need new curtains in my dining room but can’t afford to spend the $$.
My mom claims that she names me after a weather forecaster that she liked on the local news, but Pamela is also her sister’s name, so it’s a little odd to say that I have the same name as her sister but wasn’t named after her.
Maureen says
“FABRIC ME!”
I am named after 2 relatives. My name is Maureen Louise and Maureen comes from my mother’s cousin and Louise comes from my mother’s aunt.
Emily says
FABRIC ME! My middle name is my mom’s first name – I love that my name honors my mom :)
Laura says
Fabric Me!
My Dad wanted to call me Thea after his aunt (wish he’d won, I really like that name!), my Mom wanted to call me Meggie (from the Thorn Birds). Instead they named me Laura – which is how my Dad’s mother’s name would sort of translate into English.
Abby says
Fabric Me!
I am named after a character in the book A Lantern In Her Hand and my name means a Father’s Joy or giver of joy! I love it!
Emily says
FABRIC ME!

FABRIC ME!
My name means youthful one…. and when added with my middle name….. blessed by God. Love my name!
Lizzie says
FABRIC ME!
I’m named after several of my ancestors, and Elizabeth is my mother’s and grandmother’s middle, so it’s a family name. My sister and I also got family surnames as our middle names, which was embarrassing growing up when other girls had frilly middle names, but now I love it.
Elsa-Maija says
FABRIC ME!!! Elsa was the name of my mother’s grandmother.
Kelly Potteiger says
Fabric Me!!!
No real story behind my name except my Mom had always really liked it!
Bethany says
FABRIC ME!
My parents just liked the name, I think. I mostly like it, except when people shorten it to Beth. I’m NOT a Beth.
Becky says
FABRIC ME!
I’m named after Becky Thatcher from “Tom Sawyer” because my mom could picture braiding my hair in pigtails like hers!
Peggy Marchi says
FABRIC ME! My middle name is Louise–I was to be called Peggy Lou–but luckily that never happened.
Peg
Jen says
My mom originally wanted to name me Ginny, but my dad thought she meant “Jenny” short for “Jennifer”, so that’s what he had the hospital put on the birth certificate. Whoops! I gotta say I like the name Jennifer a lot better than Ginny :)
Carrie says
FABRIC ME!
I’m named after my great grandmother. I never got to meet her, but apparently we both share a love of baking!
Martha says
FABRIC ME! My name means “Lady” and I believe one of my great-grandmothers was named Martha. I always hated my name when I was a kid, and I wouldn’t say I love it now, but at least there is usually not another Martha around to be confused with.
Cara @ Chic Meets Healthy says
FABRIC ME!
My Dad named me and my mom got to name my sister. There isn’t any meaning, but they did want my middle name to start with an E like my father and grandparents! Worked out since my husband and I have the same initials!
Anna says
FABRIC ME!!!!!
My first name doesn’t have any special meaning, but my middle name (Kathleen) does – It’s my mother’s name!

My parents added an “e” to Kelley because they thought it looked more feminine than Kelly.

I am named for my father’s first employer and mentor, Charles.
KaeleyAnne says
FABRIC ME! My nom de plume is my father’s nickname for me.
Becky H. says
Fabric Me!! My name is biblical. My sisters and I were all named from the Bible. :)
Christine says
FABRIC ME :)
I actually have 4 names (or two technically since they are hyphenated) Christine-Nola Allison-Louise all of which had family meaning and also showcase my parents total inability to edit or agree on anything. In order its-
Name of aunt and name of close family friend who passed away, Grandmother, Godmother and finally second Grandmother.
Despite how long it all is when I need to fill out offical documents I wouldn’t change it….but it’s also why there was no way in heck I was hyphenating my surname when I got married. :)
Michelle says
FABRIC ME!
I was named Michelle probably because that was the #1 name in 1976, when I was born. Otherwise, no special meaning.
Subsequently, the fabric in the bottom left corner is my bedroom curtains, and the fabric in the top middle is my kitchen curtains (well, roman blinds)… I made ’em both. Bought the fabric at (you guessed it) the Online Fabric Store.
amy says
FABRIC ME! My name means “beloved” and was chosen for the meaning just as much as the name itself.

kathleen quinn says
Fabric me!!
Jill N says
Fabric me! no meaning in my name…
Uzmina Anjum says
FABRIC ME!
My mom kept my name
My name is conjunction of two Persian words UZ+Mina where UZ means high/up and Mina means Gem so combined to say something shines(like gem) in the sky like star or moon. My second name(not last) is Anjum which means stars(Arabic) and some times commonly used for heavenly gathering of people(like Anjuman in Urdu).
So combined meaning of first and second name is ‘Star of the Universe’ and btw it is the only known name on Internet(or in the world)so far and I can still create an id using just my first name.
Kristin says
FABRIC ME!
My name means follower of Christ
Amie says
FABRIC ME!
My name is French for friend. My mom wanted to hold on to a bit of her French background when she married, and took a really Ukrainian last name, letting go of her Gaulic French last name. So Amie was her living link to her past, and my name.
Jen says
FABRIC ME!
My name means “White Wave”… yeah I don’t get it either haha

FABRIC ME!
My name has no real significance – my parents had another name all picked out but my dad suddenly said “she looks like a Lesley” and so I was.
I just moved into a new apartment and I need a ton of curtains!
Brandi says
FABRIC ME… My name doesn’t have anything special behind it. My parents just liked it. Very boring!
Rach H says
FABRIC ME!
Jill says
FABRIC ME! My dad was very picky when it came to naming us and had several rules…the name could not be shortened into any obvious nicknames, you couldn’t be able to age us based on our names (nothing trendy), and you had to be able to tell if we were a boy or a girl based on our names. All of my siblings and I have family names for our middle names…mine is Marie for my great grandmother.
Rebecca H says
FABRIC ME!
No fun story behind my name, my parents just liked it.
Jodi S says
FABRIC ME!
My mom heard the name Jodi and thought the little girl who had the name was cute. There you have it ;)
