After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Cara Jeanne says
Fabric me! My parents have special meanings for all of us kids. And the first two letters of our names creates a super cool club name: Le Cabita. I’m named for my mom’s great aunt Clara (minus the l) and my middle name is Jeanne, for my dad’s mom. I LOVE my name, it’s so special to me!
kylee says
Fabric me! My middle name is my grandpas name.
Michelle says
Fabric Me!
I don’t know the whole story of how I came to be named Michelle, but since my mom’s family (from Honduras) liked it so much, my cousin’s daughter has the same name.
Another cool thing is that a different cousin of mine (also from Honduras) named her daughter Deborah Michelle (after my sister and I)…how cool is that?! Love my Name :)
Kelly says
Fabric Me!
I was named after my grandmothers. My paternal grandmothers maiden name was Kelly and my maternal grandmothers first name is Anna. However, my middle name was entered as Anne instead of Anna on my birth certificate. Evidentally someone thought my parents did not know how to spell. In middle school I wished I had a different name and when I told my mother this she told me what the option to Kelly Anna was…are you sitting??? It was Flossie Luella. My given name sounded awesome after that!!
Meryl says
FABRIC ME!!!
My uncle dated a Meryl in college & my mom heard the name and loved it. I do too!
Emily G. says
“FABRIC ME!”
My parents flipped a coin for my name. I was going to be either Marcy or Kate. Mom won with Kate, then changed her mind a bit – Emily Kate.
Catherine says
Fabric Me!
I was named after my great aunt and luckily was able to receive her engagement ring as my engagement ring also!
Ashley says
FABRIC ME!

FABRIC ME!
I was named after both of my grandmothers. My first name is my paternal grandma’s name and my middle name is my maternal grandma’s name.
Lara says
FABRIC ME!
My name was from Dr. Zhivago, “Lara’s Theme.” My mom loved it forever so she chose it. Also, my dad wanted my initials to all be L’s, so it worked out perfect.
Kimberly says
Fabric me!
Gray says
FABRIC ME!
My name is actually my middle name (but I have always gone by it) and was my great-great-grandmother’s maiden name. I did not love the uniqueness of it as a child but I definitely appreciate it now!
Meghan says
FABRIC ME!
My middle name is the same as my Dad’s, just spelled differently.
Laura says
Fabric me!
Ooh I’m excited that I can go for this one!!
My name means Victor….meek quiet little ol’ me? Couldn’t be further from the truth but I like it anyway!
Shannon says
Fabric me!
Nothing special about my name (not named after anyone)… But I do know that if I would havr been a boy I would have been named Brian.
Kristi - SimplePrettyThings says
Fabric me! Kristi… named after some soap opera actress. I think it screams 80’s (which is the decade I was born in).
Staci @ My Friend Staci says
Fabric Me! My name, “Staci” is a weird way of spelling it (usually Stacey, Stacie, etc) and I always wished it was spelled one of the other ways—although when my mom picked it she didn’t know there were other options! This was the only way she had ever seen!
Caity says
FABRIC ME! My last name means White Castle in German.
Cara W says
FABRIC ME!
My name means “Beloved” in Italian, which makes me pleased because I have Italian heritage. But, in Spanish, it means “face”.
Rebecca Swafford says
Fabric Me!!
Linda says
FABRIC ME!
Okay, this might sound “morbid”, but I think it’s cool. My name (Linda) was in memory of my mother’s friend when she was growing up. This other Linda was newly married, and on her honeymoon, she and her husband went sailing, and she never returned. HE did, but her disappearance was never solved. Crazy!
I love my name, even if it is a bit dated, but I’ve always wished my name had an “x” in it…like Roxy, or Trixie or something. haha
Joslyn says
FABRIC ME!
My name doesn’t have special significance, my parents just saw it in the newspaper before I was born, but I am very happy with it
Courtney says
FABRIC ME!
Bailey N says
FABRIC ME!
No meaning behind my name, my parents just liked it. :)
Amy says
FABRIC ME, pretty please!
My parents liked the meaning of my name, beloved. My name is short and so am I. Perfect fit.
Michelle says
FABRIC ME!
My parents actually thought I was a boy so they had picked out the name David Michael. Since there’s no easy female equivelant to David, Michelle it is…
Karen says
FABRIC ME!
My name is the result of them telling my parents if they did not come up with a name that morning before we left the hospital it would say Baby Girl Bowden on my birth cert. So they finally agreed on a name. :-)
Naomi says
FABRIC ME! My name is Naomi, which means ‘pleasant’, but to be honest I’ve had more comments about the meaning of the reverse of my name ‘I moan’, especially by my little bother (brother). I’ve struggled with my name for years – until I was about 10 years old I couldn’t pronounce it the way that my parents wanted me to ‘Nehemi’ (must be said in very very posh English accent), and was always corrected by them for saying that my name was ‘Nayomi’ or ‘Niomi’. Very frustrating as you can imagine!
Kassy says
Fabric me! My mom found the spelling of my name (Kassondra) in a book she was reading.
Rachael says
FABRIC ME!
My name doesn’t have a terribly signifigant meaning, but my mom picked the spelling (Rachael vs Rachel) because she liked that my spelling looks symmetrical.
Janeidy says
FABRIC ME!!
My name is a combination name. It’s Janeidy (ju-NAY-dee). My dad’s name is John and my mom’s name is Haydee. Wasn’t too much of a fan of it growing up since everyone butchered it, but now I love it’s uniqueness. To spare my girls from getting their names butchered, I chose a name that’s easily said in English and in Spanish, Desiree and Adrianna.
Emily says
Fabric me! Emily…..after Emily Elizabeth and her big red dog!
Jenny says
FABRIC ME!
My mother tells me I’m named after soap opera star (as is my sister Brooke). No real meaning to me, and I’m not even sure if the soap opera’s real name was Jennifer or if the character’s name was Jennifer. Hmmm…off to investigate!
Chelsea Wilson says
Fabric me! My name means “a port or dock for ships” whereas my brother’s name (Derek) means something along the lines of “king or ruler.” Not fair!!
Gretchen says
FABRIC ME!
Andrea says
FABRIC ME!
My first name means womanly. My middle name is Laurean and it is the combination of two family names, Laura and Leanna. I love it and will be passing it on to my first daughter.

My name is a saint’s name, although I am definitely not saintly!
Angel says
FABRIC ME! We are purchasing a new house and I could do wonders with fabric.
Melissa says
Fabric me!
Means honeybee.
Lindsey Lingenfelter says
FABRIC ME! I am named after my Mother who was named after her grandfather!
Allison Brown says
FABRIC ME! My middle name, Novella, was my great-grandmother’s first name and has been passed down every generation since then. I love it and can’t wait to name my little girl that!
Bethany says
FABRIC ME! My name is Bethany… No cool meaning.. I just know it was the one my mom settled on after calling me 4 different names when I was still inside of her ;) I like it because it’s different.. like me!
Michelle says
FABRIC ME!
In Jewish tradition, a child is named for a relative that has died. I was named for a great uncle Michael. And since it was 1969, they went with Michelle. Super popular name, always had to use my last initial or last name all throughout school. I picked more unique names for my kids. :)
