After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

Alia Pustorino-Clevenger says
Fabric Me! My parents named me after a character on Hawaii Five-O. Alia was Chin Ho’s (Daniel Day Kim in 2.0)daughter.
Coincidentally, it is also Hebrew and Arabic and means a blessing which my parents liked since I was adopted and they felt that I was one of their two blessings–the other was when my brother was adopted six years later!
As a kid I wanted a “normal name” but when I got older and realized how special a unique name is the more that I liked it and it fit!
Virginia says
Fabric Me! I’m named after my Grandmother, and my mother, and my great-great grandmother. Also, I named my daughter the same thing.

Karolina says
FABRIC ME!
My middle name is acctually my mom’s first name…. I don’t know the story behind my first name. I guess my parents just liked it.

Taylor Woods says
FABRIC ME! Theres no cool story behind Taylor:)
Eli S. says
FABRIC ME! Eli is short for Elizabeth, but my family also calls me Beth.
Jenelle says
FABRIC ME!
I am named after my mom’s best friend’s girlfriend. There was nothing special about her, but I guess my mom just liked the name.
Ginny A. says
Fabric me!
My name is technically Virginia, but I go by Ginny. It’s a family name.I love my name, I just wish everyone knew how to pronounce Ginny. (Seriously, how are there still people that exist that haven’t read Harry Potter)
Kelley says
FABRIC ME
My name is Kelley. My Irish grandmother’s maiden name was “Kelly” and her mother’s maiden name was “Kelley”. The spelling is a real sore spot though, and my name is always misspelled. My grandma actually had to have her grandmother’s gravestone corrected because they spelled “Kelley” wrong on it!
Tiffany says
FABRIC ME!!!
My dad is redheaded so when my mom was pregnant my older sister said I was bound to have red hair since they all had brown…so she told her they should name me after the pop star Tiffany from the 80s! So it stuck!

SFDC says
Fabric me, please.
Kristen says
FABRIC ME PLEASE!!
Susan G. says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after my mom, which was kind of a pain growing up. Things like answering the phone and having to ask which Susan they wanted were a little irritating. Sometimes I wish my parents had picked a different name, but being named after my mom is pretty cool.
Shannon says
Fabric ME!
I was actually going to be a Sarah, but changed last minute to Shannon. I don’t mind that at all because I come across more Sarahs than Shannons!
Little wise one….oh and my parents had an “S” thing going on because my three brothers all have “S” names too!

My name is Heidi and it was chosen by my dad as the one he liked the best out of five choices my mom narrowed it down too. She brought it back from Europe where she was just before meeting my dad. FABRIC ME!!!!
Karli Shondell says
FABRIC ME!
They (whoever the name meaning people are) keep changing the meaning of my name. It used to mean “young and womanly”, which I was always fond of. They have now changed the meaning to “man” or “free man” when they’re being nice. I miss the old meaning.
Simone says
I don’t usually enter your giveaways, but I had another tab open searching for fabric for roman blinds when I saw this post, so…
FABRIC ME!
I think the story is that my mom picked my first name, and my dad picked my middle name.
Kate says
Fabric me! No real story that I know of, it just had to be Irish
Cassie says
FABRIC ME!
I was named after my grandfather Casmir, so instead of Cassandra I’m just Cassie.
Gretchen says
FABRIC ME!! My parents wanted a German first name to go with our surname, so Gretchen. My sister is Leisel (yeah spelled wrong!). And if I’d been a boy, Dieter was the name of choice!
Lindsey says
Fabric Me! No special meaning, although I always hoped it was after Lindsay Wagner (the Bionic Woman) when I was little.
Stephanie says
FABRIC ME!
Nothing special about my name…not that I’ve ever been told anyway.
Candice says
Fabric me! When picking my name, my dad convinced my mom to write down all the names they each liked and just pull one out of the hat. She wrote down many names and he wrote “Candice” many times. That’s so like my mom. My middle name is “Joette” and sounds (perhaps is?) made up. Dad wanted my brother and I to have middle names after my mom (Josephine–which is lovely, why didn’t I get that?!). I’ve grown to like it, though.
Bria says
Fabric me!
My name means strong (or hill, depending on which dictionary you look at – I obviously prefer strong). I’ve never wished for a different name – it’s short and not super common (it’s not short for Brianna, or Brianne, etc.)
Jessica Kish says
FABRIC ME!
No meaning behind my name.

FABRIC ME!

Claire says
FABRIC ME!
Claire means clear or bright, but I think it was chosen because both my parents could agree on it!
Nina says
FABRIC ME!
My name doesn’t have a special meaning, but it’s interesting that my mom picked a non-traditional spelling (in Finland where I was born, Niina is the common spelling) and eventually we moved to Canada where the international spelling fit right in.
