After 10,000 interesting name origin stories, random.org has selected our winners as… Beth (who says “my dad picked it out and to this day I’m whole heartily a daddy’s girl.”) and Chelsea (who’s name story is: “My parents got my name from the 1981 movie, On Golden Pond. ‘Chelsea’ was played by Jane Fonda”) Congrats!
I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! And seemingly every kind of fabric – like upholstery, decor, quilting, apparel and even garden fabric. Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. And the cool thing about their system is that the more yardage you buy, the cheaper each yard gets – and once you get over that $50 mark, your shipping in the US is free.

FABRIC ME!
I don’t believe there is anything special with my first name, however, my middle name was a no-brainer because my paternal and maternal grandmother’s had the same first name. My middle name has special meaning to both my parents and myself because of this.
Hilary Taylor says
FABRIC ME! I was named after a character in a 70s soap opera. My mom loved her soaps…
Kait says
Fabric me! I was named after my mom
Jenny B says
FABRIC ME! My real name is Jenny (not Jennifer) – my parents thought they were being clever in naming me what they were actually going to call me. My dad wanted to name me Virginia Carolina, so think I got lucky with getting Jenny!
Rachel says
FABRIC ME! my middle name was my grandma’s name!
Suzanne says
FABRIC ME!!!!
My parents just liked the name…good thing I do too!
Kathleen says
FABRIC ME!
No real story behind my name, but my nickname is Lelani because when I was little I had a talking doll (who was my BFF) who had a friend named Lelani from Hawaii and it became my name!
GG says
FABRIC ME! I have always been obsessed w/names and naming b/c mine is unusual and was picked out of a dictionary. I hated it growing up but eventually claimed it as my own as an adult. Now I could never imagine having a name like anybody else and get compliments (as opposed to the torment I received as a child). I think names can have a significant role in shaping a person’s identity.
Emily says
Fabric Me! Nothing too crazy about how my name came to be!
j says
FABRIC ME! I don’t think my name has any special meaning, but it’s too close to another family member’s name & I wish it had been something different! However, my parents were going to name me Jennifer, so I’m glad I got the uncommon name I did. ;)
Nicole says
FABRIC ME!
As far as I know, there is no special meaning to my name, other than that my parents liked it and it wasn’t overly popular at the time.
Krista says
FABRIC ME!
My name is Krista. My parents picked it because it wasn’t, and still isn’t, a common name, which I used to dislike because I constantly had to correct people, but I like my name now. Also, I was obsessed with the movie Fern Gully as a child, solely because the main fairy had my name, though with a different spelling (Crysta).
Nathan says
Fabric me.
Ashley says
FABRIC ME! My parents just loved the name. Neither of them had ever known an Ashley before and, both having pretty common names, liked that. What they didn’t know was that it would become a crazy popular name in the 80s. (And I’d have no less than FIVE OTHER Ashley’s in my kindergarten class alone!)
Isaac says
FABRIC ME!!!!!
Beth says
FABRIC ME!
My full name is Elizabeth and it’s a family name from my great grandmother.
Karen says
I’m not too sure what my name means but Ive always found it odd when people say that you “look like your name”. My parents were going to call me “sarah” but said I look more like a “karen”… ? I’ve met some pretty awesome sarahs and karens lol. <3 Thanks for the chance!! I'm an avid sewer so I appreciate this prize!
Heather says
“FABRIC ME!”
The story I’ve been told is that my first name is the name of a waitress at a bar that my dad played music at, and one day she offered my mom rat-tail soup. Kinda weird. :)
Mallory says
FABRIC ME!
My mom just liked the name from the tv show Family Ties. Easy peasy. I’m a big fan of my name, even though it means unlucky or unfortunate.
JK says
FABRIC ME!
I got stuck with the most popular name of the 80s AND 90s. I’m not kidding, I looked it up. Haha. My name was supposed to be Elizabeth, but my parents changed it at the last minute to Jessica. I like my name, but had how popular it is. It’s the Emma and Aidan of the 80s.
Annette says
FABRIC ME! my moms name is marisol Annette so my parents named me Annette Marie :)
Laura says
FABRIC ME! My first name Laura – doesn’t have any real meaning – but my middle name is Jean. My paternal grandfathers name was Eugene – a tribute to him!
Rebecca says
Fabric me!
My first name, Rebecca, was just picked from a book. My middle name, Leda, is my Great-grandmother’s name. I love it!
Melissa R says
FABRIC ME! My parents picked Melissa out of the blue for no particular reason. The name my grandmother wanted them to name me, Missy, stuck as a nickname, although she and my other grandparents pronounced it Mitsy. I wouldn’t change it, I like it.
liz says
FABRIC ME!!!
If I had been a boy, I would have been named Edward after my grandfather (and indirectly after my father, who’s middle name is Edwin). Since I was a girl, that didn’t work so well! My parents always joke that they named me Elizabeth so that my initials would spell E.D. (last name starts with D) to carry on the family name! :) (I’m actually named for a great-grandmother, but there are many many Elizabeths in our family tree…)
Kim says
FABRIC ME!
Jennifer says
Fabric Me!
No meaning to my name but if I had been a boy I was going to be Robin Derek. Thank goodness I turned out to be a girl.
Laura says
FABRIC ME!
As far as I know there is no story behind my name except that my parents gave me the same initials that they gave my sister.
Lynda Leigh and Laura Leanne. (I don’t think I would have repeated the *lee* sound as a parent for the middle names, but they must have had their reasons or didn’t even think about it!)
kara @ launching our life together says
FABRIC ME!
Not sure what my name means. All I know is that for 8/9 of my incubation period, my parents had decided on the name Jennifer. They finally decided to tell the whole family my name, and my grandpa said Awwww, I can’t wait to call her Jenny! And my mom said But we want to call her Jennifer. My grandpa insisted that he would call me Jenny, so when I was born, they gave me the name Kara. And having lived with it for 24 years, I’ve encountered far fewer Karas than Jennifers so I love my name!
Kristy says
Fabric Me! I was named for Cristopher Robin of Winnie the Pooh. I was supposed to be a boy, before the days of sonograms.
Katalin says
FABRIC ME!

FABRIC ME! I was named after a friend of my parents’.
Katie says
FABRIC ME!
When I was born my parents could not decide what to name me, so I went by Baby Girl for a while…and then when they did decide they gave me the same middle name as my older sister, Marie. Well that wasn’t going to work so they changed my middle name to Jean and on my birth certificate there is an X over Marie, and written above it is Jean….Now I know where my indecisiveness comes from…lol
Maria says
FABRIC ME!
My name, Maria, was my mom’s second choice. I was supposed to be called Ana, but my mom’s Sister in Law stole it and named her baby that a month before I was born. Family drama ;)
laura says
FABRIC ME! My parents just like it – I wish I had a more “exotic” name, but I like it b/c it is both professional and feminine which suit me well.
Theresa says
Fabric me!
I believe Theresa means “to harvest.”
Lynette says
Fabric Me!
My name was just a name my mom and dad liked. They both love names that are not very popular, and Lynette is what they could agree on.
Thanks for the giveaway!
Nicole says
FABRIC ME!
My mom loved her local Christian radio personality and he has a daughter named Nicole…and so she named me likewise. My name means “victorious”. Very fitting :) We would love this fabric. We are reupholstering our dining chairs & getting ready to do a toddler room for our Daughter Emerson. This would be great for her curtains.
Emily says
FABRIC ME!
My parents named me Emily because that was the name of a little girl they saw in an A&W restaurant with blond, curly hair and they thought that’s what I would look like when I was born.
Sara says
FABRIC ME!
Sara means princess which I only occasionally live up to ;) I don’t have the ‘h’ on the end because my mom’s name is Teresa and she doesn’t have an ‘h’ so she didn’t think I needed one either :)
Kristin says
FABRIC ME, please!!
Erin says
Fabric Me!
My mom read my to-be name in the obituaries. Nice Huh? She said she hadn’t heard it before. (Thinking mom didn’t get out much.) It’s cool, I like it.
Lindsay says
Fabric ME!! My name isn’t all that unique but the story behind my name is ok! My parents named me, Brianne Lindsay…. But that was before Brianne became a common name. None of the nurses could say the name and my grandparents couldn’t even come close! I was being called “brain” or “Brian”. Just before they were drafting up my birth certificate, my parents said; “switch it!” Now, I am Lindsay Brianne.
Lindsay says
