I realize from the name Online Fabric Store, you might have trouble guessing what this online store sells, so allow me to solve that mystery for ya. Fabric! Which means that this week’s two winners (who are each getting $250 to spend there) could tackle anything from sewing some pillow covers or making a duvet to redoing the curtains in an entire room. Fabric me! I was actually born with Alexandra as my middle name and was called Sasha (Russian for Alexandra) from a young age.
Korby says
FABRIC ME!!! There is a unique story behind my name. When my mom was pregnant with me she started hemorhaging and had to stay a hospital away from my family for months. Two Dr.s were extremely kind to her during that time. Dr. Corporan and Dr. Brown. My parents decided to name me Korby after those two Dr.s no matter if I was a boy or girl.
Staci H says
FABRIC ME!!!!!
My name is Staci, with an i. My parents compromised on the name by varying the spelling. I never thought that it fit me, I’ve got very, very curly hair that’s reddish blonde and brown eyes, I always thought Stac-y, -ey, -ie, would look differently. I also had a sneaking suspicion that my parents wanted to avoid the whole personalized accessories routine. But, I have to say, that over the past two years, I’ve started to love it and realize that it IS me. Thank you for having the most fabulous blog. I really look forward to your updates.

Fabric me!!! My initials were MNM. That was the extent of excitement with my name :)

Laura N says
FABRIC ME!
Named after the soulful and wonderful singer Laura Nyro.
Sarah@SBrandesDesigns says
Fabric me!!!! Nothing special about my first name. My middle name was supposed to be my first name, named after my aunt who passed away a couple years before I was born, but they decided it was too soon for that & made it my middle name instead… I wish they had gone with my middle name though because I have known sooooo many Sarahs in every stage of my life…
Ashley says
Fabric me!
No real meaning behind my name. I was Lindsey for a short period before they changed it though.
Shary says
FABRIC ME!!
My name is not unique, just uniquely spelled. I was the first born and was supposed to be a boy, in my parents mind. I was to be David, and they didn’t have any girl names picked out. The nurse told my dad, “Didn’t you know they came in two flavors?” My grandmother suggested Shary, but the story behind her suggestion was a little mixed up. I was named after Cherry Ellen, my great-great grandmother. My grandmother thought she was Shary. At any rate, I love it because it is uniquely spelled.
Kim says
FABRIC ME! My first name has no significance, but my middle name (Ward) is a family name – it was my Great-Great Grandmother’s Maiden name! It’s my father’s middle name as well as my Grandfather’s middle name. Now I get to pass it on to my children.

Shannon says
“Fabric Me”
My name was chosen because of my Irish heritage. My mother chose Shannon because she liked the name and it was the most Irish name she could think of and my middle name is Sarah after her beloved grandmother who came from Ireland.

FABRIC ME!
No crazy story about my name other than the fact that my dad picked out.
Erik says
FABRIC ME! My mom wanted a Scandinavian name.
Lauren says
Fabric me!
I was named after what was popular in 1984. That is as deep as it gets.
Kim says
FABRIC ME! Whoa, lots of comments! My name was picked very quickly because I am a surprise twin. Meaning in 1972 when ultrasounds were not done regularly, my mom thought she was just having one baby. Until I showed up 6 minutes after my sister – on VALENTINE’S DAY! Very surprise Valentine for my dad!
Terri H says
FABRIC ME! No fun story regarding my name.
Kelly Midori says
FABRIC ME!
My half Japanese mother wanted to name me Midori, which is a popular Japanese names for girls that means green. But after objections from a very traditional American mohter-in-law, my mother moved it to my middle name and chose a first name that mirrored it – Kelly (which also means green but has other resonances). Because Kelly is quite common and reminds me of an 80s cheerleader, I always wished my middle name was my first name. Now, thinking of names for my own children, I wonder if giving them Japanese names (though they will only be 1/8th Japanese) will be too off-putting to most people.
Carolyn says
Fabric me!! Just a name my mom liked :) Although I wanted to change it through most of high school… very happy with it now!
Liv says
FABRIC ME!
The story of my name depends on who you ask – according to my ma, it was because as a teenager she babysat a kid named Olivia who was awesome and she’d always liked the name.
If you ask dad, it’s because he loved Olivia Newton John at the time.
Either way, I like it.
Shannon says
FABRIC ME!
No special meaning. My mom babysat a little girl wham she was a teenager and she liked the name!
Cassie F. says
FABRIC ME!
My parents each had names picked out and for all of us kids, and the day we were born they flipped a coin and whoever won the coin toss got to use their name. My dad won every single time! I don’t think there is any meaning behind my name, my parents just liked it.
On that note also my name is not Cassandra, which I get asked often if Cassie is short for Cassandra, which it is not in my case.

Fabric me please! My name means ‘beloved’
Monica B says
FABRIC ME!
I used to always wish for a name wish a softer ending sound. That and my siblings used to call me Mon-a-half-poo because ‘caca’ in spanish is poo. Cruel, I know.

FABRIC ME PLEASE!
I’m not sure of the story behind my name, although I do remember making my kindergarten class call me Becky for a month because my mom told me that was the other choice for me. But now I’m happy with my name!
Rachel says
FABRIC ME!!
I’m named after Rachel in the Bible, and my sister is named after Rebecca in the Bible. I think it’s fun having names that are attached to a person or a specific meaning. I really love it.
Erika M says
FABRIC ME!
My mother had planned to name me something else, but after being laid up in the hospital for three months (yes, THREE months!) due to pregnancy complications, she started watching soap operas and fell in love with the name Erika – though I believe the original spelling is Erica. So that’s what I ended up as. :)
Diana says
FABRIC ME!!
My middle name of Frances is a passed down middle name on my mother’s side. Diana was a name my parents both liked as they went through the alphabet. They stopped on D for a boy’s name too- Doug. Happy to be a girl.
Patty C. says
Fabric Me! No meaning that I know of although I did experiment with different spellings when I was younger.
Brittany says
FABRIC ME!
My first name as far as I know doesn’t have any particular significance. But I get my middle name from my dad who spells its slightly differently and pronounces it different, but it’s basically the same name.
Emily K says
FABRIC ME! I am named after my great-grandmother, Esther. I am happy my parents chose Emily instead for me!
Dee says
Fabric me! My name means ‘ one wo enlightens’ in Sanskrit . My mom chose it after quite some deliberation !
Marni Parsonage says
FABRIC ME! My name, Marni, means “rejoice” in Hebrew and “of the sea” in Latin. As a 5th child of 6 M’s, my parents had to be pretty creative to find another original “M”. I’m very happy with my seaside name, even when I’m required to repeat it with gusto so people can catch it. I’m chuffed to share it with an edgy Italian fashion label. My middle name is May after my aunty Sheila May.
Lara says
Fabric Me!
My name is from Dr. Zhivago – Lara’s Theme. My mom always loved the name Lara.
Abby says

Jess says
Fabric Me!
It was my mom’s favorite name… which she thought was very unique… until there were about 12 of us in my first grade class.
Hiromi says
FABRIC ME!!!
My name Hiromi is taken in part from my father, Hirofumi.
It’s common in Japan for a child to have one Kanji character from their parents.
Kara says
Fabric me, Petersiks! My mother wanted to name me Victoria Elizabeth (she had a thing for the royal family). My dad convinced her that was way too many letters for one child’s name, so they agreed on Kara. Mom had the bright idea to call me “Kara Lee” and my dad reminded her I wasn’t a cupcake (ala Sara Lee). Both of them were teachers, and they had a student they loved whose middle name was Genai, and that’s where my middle name came from, giving me the same amount of vowels and consonants in my entire name (my claim to fame).

My parents picked my name because it means pure one–which is really nice. I’m very happy they didn’t go with their other choices–Paige or Doug. blech.
Kaitlyn says
FABRIC ME!
My parents just liked my first name, but for my middle name (Beth) I was named after my paternal grandmother, who died when my dad was very young. I never knew her so I love having that connection!
Liz says
FABRIC ME! I was named after my great-grandmother :)
Miranda says
Fabric me!
My first name is after princess Diana’s stepmother Miranda and my middle name, Raine, is after the nurse who took care of my older brother after his heart surgery. He died a week later so I love having a link to him..
