Our luckiest house is the one we currently live in. Not only do we love the house with it’s huge backyard, but the neighborhood just couldn’t be better. Our neighbors have been known to cut our lawn and shovel our snow “just because” and we return the favor. There are also many children who are the same ages as my 3 children and all of the parents get along so well. The kids spend the summer hopping from house to house and making memories that will last forever.

JOSS ME! My luckiest home improvement endeavor has to be finding an apartment with an amazing view of Richmond, Va! No one is looking at my actual apartment, they are just checking out the view, so it keeps decorating costs down!

What an awesome giveaway for an awesome site/store. Love it! At the closing for our house, the previous owner said to us, “I’ve got some bad news for you. The refrigerator in the house died.” We were like, “What?! No!” And then he said, “I have some good news for you. I got you a new one.” Now, we realize it was his responsibility to make sure there was a working refrigerator in the house b/c it was part of the deal, but he totally could have patched up the faulty one … or gotten a cheap second-hand one or something. So, when we moved into our new home we were blessed w/ a brand new fridge. Awesome.

JOSS ME!!! Our luckiest house moment occurred with our current home. We had moved from another state into a temporary rental home while we looked for a property to purchase. The rental was a bit of a nightmare but the neighborhood was amazing. On an evening walk we noticed another house, one street up, that looked to be in a bit of disarray. The kind of disarray that happens when you are preparing a house for market. There was no for sale sign out but having just put our own home on the market before our move we were pretty sure we were looking at a home that would be going up for sale soon. So, not being shy, I knocked on the door, introduced myself and just asked if they were getting ready to sell. The answer was yes. About an month later, with a private sale, we now own that home.

My luckiest moment in home decorating has been I snagged some great banana leaf baskets from Target on sale and have found SO many great uses for them (storing cookbooks, pet toys, laundry supplies etc). They hide clutter and provide a bit of cohesive storage throughout our house.

My luckiest home moment was BUYING my house – it was a foreclosure on a brand new home for less than half price – but the street isn’t on the map yet so no one could find it, not even the realtor! I’m sure if anyone could find it I would have been outbid. I only knew where the street was because I had looked at a house the next street over the week before…
Complete luck, or as I like to thnk, I had a few angels working in my corner :)

Joss me!!!!! Wow what a great giveaway! I love reading your blog. My husband and I are big DIYers and we have so much fun reading about your adventures and how similar some of them are to ours.
Luckiest moment…it started out as unlucky but we got a HUGE discount on our kitchen counter top and sink because they installed the wrong sink (we ordered a 70/30 split and they gave us 50/50). But now I’m totally in love with the 50/50 sink and SO happy knowing that we saved a lot of money just because a mistake was made on the order. :)

My lucky find is our dining room table. One day after deciding that we were going to convert our living room to a dining room-living room combination and that I’d need a long table, four chairs, and a bench, that exact thing showed up on CL for a great (low) price. There was a scratch down the middle, but my father-in-law sanded it out and now it’s perfect.

JOSS ME! My lucky find was a wooden barstool at an antique store in my home town, we had been looking for one for a while to put in our kitchen and they were so expensive and cheaply made at most of the big box stores… then we found this one that is super sturdy and just needed a new coat of paint for $5! Best shopping day in a long time! Love it!

The first weekend after moving into our new home we were clearing out a stone wall and found an old horseshoe. The land was previously home to a horse farm, a very long time ago. We were thrilled to find such a treasure and felt blessed to have found such a beautiful good luck charm as new home owners. It has hung above our front door since that very day and I have to admit, it is my favorite accessory in the entire house.

I just found the best piece…All summer I had been looking for a pretty large mirror to put over our buffet, but everything I found was out of our budget. Fast forward to last week: while vacationing in FL I discovered a local who made driftwood mirrors for much cheaper than local boutiques. Not only is our mirror original, but it’s local, handmade and holds such a great story behind it ; )
