We found the perfect chairs for our kitchen table sitting curbside on trash day in a rain storm on the way to work- couldn’t pull the car over fast enough to load them in!

Joss Me! We were lucky with our first home improvement job – replacing the carpet/linoleum in our kitchen and dining area with tile. I work for an architecture firm, so I got the designer discount, plus we did all the work ourselves and it came out perfect!

JOSS ME! My luckiest deal was finding an old-style workbench left in our basement when we moved in 24 years ago! You know, the kind that has the wood vice attached to the front! I painted it red, antiqued it with some stain and use it as a TV/entertainment stand to this day!

My luckiest moment was finding our house! We bought with the intention of living here for a few years before starting a family, but we love it so much that we decided to put an addition on and stay! :)

I think the luckeist moment was finding out the house we were about to put an offer in had an animal infestation problem, the night before we were sending over our deposit. We ended up walking away and finding our dream house in our dream neighborhood.

Joss me! Unfortunately we don’t experience too many lucky moments when it comes to home improvement. So I’m hoping this can change that trend and bring some Joss to my home!

JOSS ME! My luckiest moment was finding a light fixture I had been drueling over for years on clearance so I could finally buy it! yay!

My luckiest home moment is actually more of a fashion moment than anything else. I had been pining over this orange dress at the mall for months, but we just didn’t have $80 to drop on a dress. I kept checking just out of optimism. Then, one day, the very dress I had tried on, the one in my size, was the only one left, and it was on clearance for $40! It made my day and now I wear that dress whenever I get the chance!

JOSS ME! I finally bit the bullet and chose a soft grey for my daughter’s room. I am so glad I did. Now that it is painted, it is fresh, relaxing and just perfect.

Joss ME! Luckiest moment: while looking for our current home and having no luck for months, I spotted this one and called, no return call for a few days. Took the hubs by it to show him and as we were driving away they called us back. It is the perfect home.

I also feel lucky finding our home! We had a few snatched up by other people while we were writing offers but we saw the home we got on the first weekend (Mother’s Day in fact) and we wrote an offer while we were there!

I don’t have much good luck in the home improvement department… We ended up picking a kitchen paint color (Martha Stewart’s rainwater) that we really liked. I won’t even pretend that any skill went into that decision. Does that count?

My husband and I were lucky enough to find our new place which is:
literally around the corner from his work
with 1.5 baths AND a garage AND storage
and it is close to a lot of our close friends.
While we are still renters, we feel like this is a huge improvement and we are so lucky to have found it.

Joss Me! My luckiest moment is when my daughter shared your blog with me and I borrowed one of your kitchen ideas (from your first home). I convinced my husband to take away the scalloped board over the sink that connected the two cabinets; it looks great!! Thanks for your fabulous ideas.

My luckiest moment…hmm. Well we’ve been scouring the area my in-laws live in for 2 years, looking for a place to make our next home. On our 5th year anniversary, we found that the house and lot right across the street from them was up for sale!! Our bid is in and we are anxiously waiting for what we hope will be good news! Couldn’t get any closer than that!
Thanks for the great giveaway!

My luckiest home moment was the purchase of our home. 10 days post c-section with a newborn in tow, we toured 8 houses in one day, 3 of them a second time, and found out that another couple was putting an offer on the home we liked best. So we scrambled to make an offer that same day and got the house! It was a whirlwind, but a year later we are so happy with our home!

My luckiest home decor/improvement is that my fiance is so lax about me changing things up every season. I’m sure once I find the PERFECT set up, I’ll chill out with it… bu for now, he’s being really patient with me changing the decor!

We were so lucky to love the first house we actually looked at in person, we made an offer as soon as we saw it and have been there for almost two years now. It was wonderful to skip the months of househunting that most people go through!

The best moment was when we pulled down a wall and it looked good afterwards. Worst moment was when my husband was drilling a hole in the wall in our living room and he went all the way through into the bathroom and put a hole in the shower tile.

Our luckiest moment: we’d been looking at houses for a year and a half, and had looked at about 130 when we found “the one”– a quaint brick tudor with a basement! and garage! and yard! with character! — all the prereqs we’d been searching for. We put in an offer on Valentine’s Day and promptly got declined– the seller had accepted another offer. Depressed beyond compare, my then fiance said “I know it’s awful, but that’s our house and I hope their offer falls through”– two weeks later, it did. The buyer just decided to walk away, and we were there to swoop in and get our dream house. It’s been the coolest thing ever since, and we couldn’t be happier!

My luckies moment happened the day we signed the papers to our 120 year old house-I was proposed to right at the house. The house was on the market the prior year, but we weren’t ready to buy….so we drove by it almost every night for that next year….literally a year later, it went back on the market, this time not hesitating….we made the offer and got the house of my dreams (and the man too).

We refinished a blonde 1950s dresser that I’ve had since I was a kid for our bedroom. I wasn’t sure if I would like the end result, but after adding some modern pulls and a dark stain, it’s now my favorite piece of furniture.

One of my luckiest moments was having my mother-in-law score some beautiful danish modern chairs for us from a thrift store that went perfectly with the hand-me-down coffee table we were given from my parents.

I like to think our house was our luckiest moment, but my husband would disagree! It hadn’t been updated since the 70s and I thought it was perfect as a “project”! Five years later, it looks incredible and not a stitch of 70s is left!
Steph H. says
JOSS ME! My luckiest find was a $15 1950’s dresser at a Salvation Army. I used it for myself during college, and then refinished it hot pink for my little sister to use during her college years. I think it’ll be the item we keep passing back and forth for years to come!

I was one of those crazy lucky people that really wasn’t in the market to buy a home but I had a real estate friend who was “keeping an eye out” and my husband and I ended up making a purchase offer on the house the same day it went on the market. The icing on the cake… it was five days before my birthday! Happy Birthday to me!
We’ve worked very hard over the past six years to make it a home and done every remodel in the book (including a kitchen). Matter of fact, you can find photos on my photography blog here http://kimberlydamphotography.blogspot.com/2009/01/i-still-cant-believe-it.html.
