I think our house is our prime nab. We’d toured it before but had decided it was too much $$ for us. The day we were about to offer on a different house, we noticed it had dropped another 15,000 putting it right at the top of what we were willing to spend. We toured both again, decided to low ball the now-lower-priced house, and got it. Better location, better schools, awesome living area (but lower sq. ft. and less yard)!

we initially dismissed even looking at our home because of the front exterior photo of the house in the real estate listing. It was in fact the BACK of the house! We on a whim took a drive by it to find out it didn’t look like that at all and we were sold on it when we visited it!

Joss me!! My luckiest homeowner moment was when I moved in with my fiance so I never had to go through the craziness of house-buying for my first house. Oh, and I was actually somewhat happy to stumble into a house where the previous owners half-assed just about everything so we get to do all kinds of things ourselves!

Our luckiest home improvement was getting a contractor to agree to our much lower price for adding on the sunroom than what he wanted to get for it. And we got all the things we wanted in it too!

we found the most perfect home three months ago and, when we went to look at it for the first time, we learned that the sellers just received an offer. lucky for us, the sellers were hesitant on accepting a contingent offer and declined – and later accepted ours! we feel so lucky that this place fell into our laps – we weren’t even searching in this particular town and i still dont know how i came across the house in my internet searches but so glad we did!

We were lucky with our house purchase. We low-balled the price unrealistically since it was about 20k out of our league. Turns out the sellers were “motivated” and they accepted our crazy-low offer about 2 weeks later.

JOSS ME! Best home moment is getting sellers to pay for home warranty…score!

My luckiest home improvement moment was finding our new house. We had been looking for over a year, and were in a neighborhood looking at another house when the relator told us that the house behind the one we were looking at had just gone on the market too. It was love at first sight!

Our luckiest moment was not only finding a house we loved, but finding a house we loved with owners who were ready to sell! Not only did they accept an offer lower than the list price, they also agreed to pay closing costs :)

My luckiest home improvement moment is more like a series of little moments that went together to form the perfect package. Most importantly, however, was when we painted over the OH MY GAWD blood-like RED walls in the living/dining room. Man, what a change!

My luckiest home improvement moment was finding our house in an old neighborhood (i.e. biking distance to my husband’s work) and having it had been entirely remodeled in the last 7 years (everything from flooring, switches, fixtures, air conditioner, etc.) and then having the home owner leaving tons of stuff like patio furniture, paint, all the warranty info on everything, etc.
I love buying a house from someone more up tight than myself :)!

My luckiest home moment was finding our home. My husband happened to see it pop up online and went to look at it that day. Even though there were a lot of competing bids, the bank chose us, thus ending our 6+ month search!

While on a walk, I saw old window frames from a house remodel outside by the trash. I brought them home, painted them and used them for picture frames.

Can’t really say I’ve had much luck in the home improvement department. Maybe color matching two separate cans of paint when one can wasn’t sufficient…

Our luckiest home decor moment was when my grandmother moved out of her house and let us go through her kitchen and take whatever we needed for our apartment. We wound up with an adorable little kitchen table and chairs, baking pans galore, a miniature food chopper and plenty of kitchen gadgets. It saved us so much money!

My luckiest moment was when I built a custom fireplace. I went to Lowes to get the firebox and burner and the manager told me if I waited a week he could give it to me the display for 75% off since the retail heating season was ending. So I waited and scored a great deal.

Biggest stoke of luck in decor for me? Landing the only base house on my Air Force Base with the most amazing natural light. It’s warmer in the summer and cooler in the winter because of all the windows, but I still consider all the great light lucky!

My luckiest experience (other than meeting my hubbie on eHarmony!) was buying my condo. It went on the market the day I was admitted to the hospital with dead lymph nodes (seriously – dead lymph nodes!?! who knew???). My Realtor said nothing, knowing this was the home for me but also understanding that it wasn’t exactly the best time. Over a month later, once I was back on my feet, she showed me the house. We wrote an offer that afternoon, and I moved in a few weeks later. I still can’t believe that no one snapped up my darling condo while I was sick.
PS, it would be lovely to win so we can furnish said condo!

JOSS ME! So far, probably keeping my eye out for a deal on some awesome pottery barn bedding and scoring a new set for cheap on ebay after being patient! But, I’d like my luckiest moment to be soon…when my fiance and I’s time is running short on finding a new place before his temporary lease runs out!

Because of certain situations, when I first moved to Austin, TX I had about 8 hours to find a place to live and an extremely small budget. Had three places to look at and after the first two (which were about the worst you could possibly imagine) I started freaking out a smidge. The last one happened to be the perfect size, perfect location, a lower price than I had originally budgeted for and just quite charming. Whew! It amazes me how lucky it was!
