Our current house was the very first house we looked at on the very first day we drove into our new city. (We still had the trailer attached when we made our appointment to view it!)

Our luckiest moment was coming across our house the day it went on the market. At the time things were going QUICK and there wasn’t much we could afford that was total crap. It was the longest 48 hours of my husband’s life! Never seen him so nervous!

We actually did find our current house the day it went on the market, and out of 5 offers submitted, they chose us! Then, we were able to get the house we were selling under contract just before the tax credit expired. We really lucked out on the whole moving thing this time around.

I scored a great deal on Craig’s List, a round tufted ottoman, about 3 feet diameter, for $25! It’s in great shape but I don’t care for the upholstery so I plan to redo it one day. Maybe add some nailhead trim, we’ll see!

Joss me! We scored a mahogany dining table and 6 chairs on craigslist for $80- under one condition – that we also took the solid wood buffet!

Joss Meee! I found the house of my dreams easily…it was the first one I looked at! And my realtor drug me around the rest of the day, trying to show me more expensive houses, but I knew she was wasting her time!

JOSS ME! We found our house 3 days before it was set to go on the market and met the owner’s son, who was painting inside. There were several offers and we think we probably got the house because we met him.

After searching for a fixer upper for almost 6 months, we finally decided to expand our search. WE ended up buying a brand new house in a new neighborhood that we absolutely love. Can’t wait to start painting.

Our luckiest moment was when we found our house. It did not have a sign in the yard, I just happened to see that it was vacant and found out who owned it. I call the lady to see if it was for sale and how much. I almost fell over when we told me the price $20,000. We went to see it that night and fell in love & and 6 yrs later I am even more in love since it is paid off.

My luckiest moment in home improvement was the purchase of an old scuffed up storage chest that I sanded, painted a crisp white, and now holds all of my dearest possessions. Definitely worth the hard work!

My luckiest home improvement moment was scoring our brand new rental! It is a huge upgrade from where we were living and it had already been given to someone else – when the deal fell through we were next on the list.
Would love to win so we can decorate our new apartment as newlyweds!

My luckiest home improvement moment…The house we recently purchased has painted over wallpaper in nearly every room. We knew this before we bought the house, but we decided we would deal with it after we got settled in. We were pleasantly surprised to discover that the people who put up the wallpaper had prepped the walls for easy wallpaper removal. All it took was finding a loose edge around a window or base board, and it peeled right off without water, steaming, or chemicals!!! Some glue residue was left behind after removing the wallpaper, but hot water and a washcloth took care of that! We hit the wallpaper removing lottery!!! :-)

My luckiest home-related moment was definitely finding our first home. After searching for over a year, touring countless homes, and putting in offers on 3 different homes only to be rejected…we put in a contract on our dream house the day it went on the market, and closed one month after that! Woohoo!

I have only been a homeowner for 2 years, and I’m just now getting brave enough to tackle some small DIY projects! So I’m having trouble thinking of a “luckiest moment.” However, perhaps I will get a great one if I win the $500 e-shopping spree!

We made an offer on a house last November which fell through. We were SO bummed, but ended up finding our dream home just a few months later. Although at the time it seemed like an awful thing, it was meant to be… lovin our new home :)

My luckiest home improvement moment was finding a gorgeous quilt I thought I had lost after our move! It’s a “French Provencal” quilt from the Company Store, which makes it sounds very fancy, but it’s really just 3″x3″ squares of really cool fabric, some traditional, some modern. I found it in a box of my boyfriend’s stuff that he hadn’t unpacked, for TWO YEARS. (???) I was so glad to find it, I didn’t even hassle him about his lack of organizational skills. The quilt absolutely “makes” our bedroom, it’s beautiful.
