I had a lucky home moment this weekend – I finally decided to give in and get some curtains I’d been eying for months from Z Gallerie this weekend, only to find out they’d been discontinued. Luck for me, there were two panels left in the warehouse, so they are on their way to me now. Yay!

Luckiest home improvement was probably this past Saturday. Had been needing a new Blu-ray player, as carting the one from upstairs back and forth to downstairs every time we watched a movie down there was getting old. Planned on buying a new one this week, but won a player at my company picnic.

True story– when we were preparing to sell our house a couple of years ago (after already being under contract on the new house… yikes!), my oldest son told me that the first person who looked at our house would buy it. And it happened exactly like that!

Joss me! My luckiest home improvement moment was finding our home. Which may not seem so lucky because it took 9 months, but I will forever be grateful.

JOSS ME! My luckiest home improvement moment was realizing my husband has mad DIY and carpentry skills. The amazing built-ins he created for our living room had me falling in love with him all over again.

I would have to say the best find was a craigslist mid century modern entertainment console. One side record player, one side radio. The radio didn’t work, so my husband reworked it and wired it with new speakers on the inside so we can play music but have the look of vintage. Yay for DIYers!

Since we’re just renters for the time being we don’t have any lucky home improvement stories just yet. We’re hoping to buy within the next 9-12 months so hopefully we’ll be lucky then & find a house we love!

My luckiest moment was probably figuring out that a bobcat would fit through our fence to the backyard…so we could spend $200 or so renting one to haul 20 cubic yards of soil to the backyard instead of paying someone a TON to take it back with wheelbarrows.

We went to an estate sale on the last day and found the family exhausted and willing to give us whatever we could haul. A beautiful desk, chair, freezer, and record player now live with us for free.

And I totally scored last week – I had to drop some stuff off at my local thrift/donation center and decided just for the heck of it to go walking through. Not only did I score a nice, clean, WITH instruction manual bread machine, I so totally scored BEAUTIFUL matching light fixtures for my bathrooms! They’re just what I would have picked from the store (only about $144 bucks cheaper). Thats right I got 2 vanity light fixtures for $4 EACH. AMAZING Joss moment!

My luckiest moment was went I found a fab wing back chair sitting near the dumpster at my apartment complex…I had a busted ankle at the time, but loved the lines of the chair, so trecked up the 2 flights to get it and save it from the dumpster…it is now recovered and beautiful :)

“JOSS ME!” …and my luckiest moment was purchasing two twin quilts from Pottery Barn Kids and when they arrived, I took them to Target to find some coordinating sheets. And there, on the endcap at Target was an almost IDENTICAL quilt in design and color for only 29.99 versus the $119/ea. I had paid for the others!

Our luckiest home improvement moment was having my dad here when we pulled up the yucky stick-on tiles in our kitchen to discover that the top layer of subfloor had been leaked-on at some point and needed to be replaced. We would have been up a creek if he wasn’t here to help my husband replace it. Thankfully, our floor looks spectacular now!

After searching high and low for a Bombay dresser for months, I scored an amazing deal on Craigslist- a 9 drawer Bombay for only $50! It needed some paint and new knobs, but after a little refinishing and a trip to Hobby Lobby (for knobs), it’s by far my fav piece in the house!

Our lucky house moment: We found the house of our dreams but the sellers wouldnt come down on our price and sadly, we had to move on to look for something in our price range. A week later the sellers called and accepted our price! It was too good to be true.
