And the lucky / randomly selected / soon to be quite worldly person is… Briana (who says “London, Ontario is special to me. That’s where I first lived on my own, went to University, met my husband, and I just loved that city. Plus, it has the best spaghetti restaurant ever, Spageddy Eddy’s!”). Congrats! And for everyone else, scroll down to the contest entry details for a sweet little discount the Wallpapered folks added for everyone.
One look at Pinterest and I don’t feel quite so alone in my fascination with maps. So to everyone else out there who digs a little cartography in their design, hold on to your seats. This week the people behind Wallpapered are giving one of you a nice big 8ft x 5ft world map wallpaper kit so that you can add a map-tastic mural to your home. As much as I love the various world map styles they offer, the coolest feature (at least to me) is that you can also get custom area map wallpaper that basically zooms into a postal code of your choosing. So you could order custom wallpaper showcasing your favorite big city – or even the small town that you grew up in.
- PRIZE: Any world map or custom area map wallpaper up to 8ft x 5ft from Wallpapered (a $400+ value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORLD ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …what town / city / state / country / other geographic area is most special to you? Will you always have a fondness for the town you grew up in? Are you most enamored with the place where you honeymooned? Or are you just bursting with pride over the area where you currently live?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 23rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Wahoo, this giveaway is available worldwide!
- DISCOUNT: Get 10% off your custom map order with code YHL2013
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday as an update to this post. That’s right, come right back here on Thursday for the announcement of our winner. Good luck…

Katie Baker says
World Me!!!
Redlands, CA! That is where I currently live and have lived for the last 5 years. It is a very small and unique town in southern California. It’s located in the middle of … well, ghetto-ness on all sides. But, it’s a gem, I tell ya!
I grew up in Huntington Beach, right on the beach! I could smell it from my doorstep and yet, I hated everything about the beach. When I was in school I dreamed of moving to a small town. So small that everyone knew who you were and there was one street light. I dreamed of having a party in the middle of a field and using a cow trough as a cooler for drinks, cow tipping for fun (is that even possible? I’ve always wondered) and driving on small country streets lined with corn. I dreamed of raising my family in a ‘good hometown’ and yet…I was stuck at the beach, 30 minutes away for Los Angeles, also known as ‘the concrete jungle’.
Then, fast forward 10 years. I’m married, I have a 6 month old, I’m a teacher and I live in this very small town called Redlands. I drive on small town roads lined with orange trees and I can’t go to the grocery store without someone saying “Hi Mrs. Baker.” People know who I am and I know many people in my town. I live at the base of the mountains and I get to witness seasons! Leaves change here, and snow falls! We have buildings that are 200 years old and there is so much history that surrounds us. Our community is awesome! Farmer’s Markets a few times per week and community farming where you get produced delivered to your door from local farmers. We have our own brewery in town called Hangar 24 (so no need for a cow trough) that is located next to our little airport. We don’t have very many ‘name brand’ restaurants, but lots of family owned ones…many of my student’s parent’s businesses.
I’m so excited for my son to grow up here. In this small town. The one that I dreamed of growing up in. He’s so lucky to be a part of it and I’m so lucky that I met my husband and he showed me this amazing place!
