And the lucky / randomly selected / soon to be quite worldly person is… Briana (who says “London, Ontario is special to me. That’s where I first lived on my own, went to University, met my husband, and I just loved that city. Plus, it has the best spaghetti restaurant ever, Spageddy Eddy’s!”). Congrats! And for everyone else, scroll down to the contest entry details for a sweet little discount the Wallpapered folks added for everyone.
One look at Pinterest and I don’t feel quite so alone in my fascination with maps. So to everyone else out there who digs a little cartography in their design, hold on to your seats. This week the people behind Wallpapered are giving one of you a nice big 8ft x 5ft world map wallpaper kit so that you can add a map-tastic mural to your home. As much as I love the various world map styles they offer, the coolest feature (at least to me) is that you can also get custom area map wallpaper that basically zooms into a postal code of your choosing. So you could order custom wallpaper showcasing your favorite big city – or even the small town that you grew up in.
- PRIZE: Any world map or custom area map wallpaper up to 8ft x 5ft from Wallpapered (a $400+ value!)
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “WORLD ME!” and tell us…
- BONUS QUESTION: …what town / city / state / country / other geographic area is most special to you? Will you always have a fondness for the town you grew up in? Are you most enamored with the place where you honeymooned? Or are you just bursting with pride over the area where you currently live?
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, January 23rd at 8pm EST or at 10,000 entries (whichever comes first)
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Wahoo, this giveaway is available worldwide!
- DISCOUNT: Get 10% off your custom map order with code YHL2013

So, I’m actually from RVA but the part I would love a map of is the area around the museum. My dad worked at Robert E. Lee Elementary and I went there before they turned it into lofts. I also grew up one block from the school! I still live in the area and love walking around seeing what has changed and what looks exactly the way it did when I was four.

I will forever be in love with Southwest Michigan, where I was born and raised. The lake effect snow, the fruit and vegetable stands (and fields and orchards), the sunsets over Lake Michigan (no salt and no sharks), the lighthouses, the history, the proximity to Chicago & Detroit, the high school where my husband and I started dating. Corn mazes. Pick your own blueberries. Local wineries galore. I could go on and on.
Yet, I also am enamored with Yellowstone National Park and Grand Teton National Park. My parents lived out west in Idaho for a while and our frequent visits and hikes to these national treasures made me fall in love with the mountains. I miss them all the time.

WORLD ME! My husband and I are both from Vermont, and it might be fun to have a touch of VT in our house. I have been wanting to put up some more map decor – we have a framed copy of a super old map of the town we now live in, but that’s it.

World Me!
Its tough to choose a map of just one place in the world because there are so many cool cities and places to look at! But I would have to say either Washington DC (I was born there and grew up in the area always) because who doesn’t love to see a city with all those cool paralleling lines. Or Rome because the vastness of the ‘capital of the world’ as the Romans pride themselves on is an easy to get lost on with a map or in person, all the tiny streets going where they can fit over the city that has just grown and grown over the centuries.
Sorry you guys probably did want to read all that, but as you can tell already I get all gushy over my cities and maps

I love my hometown of Speedway, Indiana, and can readily identify it on the map– just find the Indy 500 race track!! However, I also love our current town of Austin, Texas, and with its many rivers and lakes and parks, it makes for a beautifully colored map! And I lived in Spain and loved that… and I just love maps, and so does the hubs. We need a map mural!!!
