This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.
If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.
Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.
If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.
Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):
- PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

The other day, someone showed me a YouTube video of this poor dog who was born without his two front legs, yet somehow learned to walk upright, just like a person!

I know a dog that can sort laundry…well, he can pick socks from the pile.

PONY UP! My dog Knuckles can balance a treat on his nose, toss it up & catch it. Makes me smile everytime! Also if I’m holding a piece of corn on the cob he will eat it row by row like a human.

PONY UP!!
My late and dearly loved dog Tammy (the cutest teacup maltese ever) used to ring a bell by our front door when she had to go to the bathroom. That however is not what I found to be talent. While she was smart enough to know when she had to go to the bathroom and where to go, she also had a little spiteful streak in her. When I would come home and close my door (I was a teenager), she would get so mad at me for not wanting to hang out with her that she would poop right outside my door!! Now the talent there would be acquiring and saving up the poop just to make a statement every time she felt ignored. She would never do this if I was with her or if my door was open and she felt free to come and go as she please…no it was only when she felt I deserved a good crapping on. Ah…she was my favorite little girl!! Bless her soul.

My dog knows how to sing along to Happy Birthday!
Kate says
PONY UP! I am amazed by our dogs (Great Pyrenees mixes) who guard the goats on our farm. They have learned to climb fences like a human climbing a ladder, perch on top like a cat (with all 4 paws), and jump to the other side to go on a “walkabout.”
Marsha says
Pony up! I have also seen painting by elephants.
Anna says
PONY UP …I knew my parents yellow lab was mischievous but when I found out she staged a robbery of our neighbor’s freshly baked banana nut bread… Just lock your doors people.

Not really a trick, but my little terrier mix lifts both back feet off the ground and does a handstand when she pees. I still think it’s funny 3 years on.

Sweet horses!
Our 17 year old cat is still just as spunky as ever. He’s been a great friend through the years, not just for me, but for the kiddos too. He comes when he’s called, gives kisses, and even more impressive, listens when we speak to him. He’s been there for us through ups and downs and I can’t imagine our family without him.

My kitten doesn’t really have any tricks, but he really cracks me up when he gets going with one of his toys– it looks like he’s playing ‘hot potato’ with himself.
Abby says
Pony up! The coolest animal video I saw on YouTube was of a dog doing exercises with its owner, including squats!
Lydia says
PONY UP! Thanks for the amazing giveaway.
Sadly, I have no talented pets- I own 4 hedgehogs who can’t do any special tricks!

These are so neat – love them.
Our pup doesn’t like baths but he sure likes to get dry afterward – we spread out a towel for him and he rubs and rolls until he’s dry, it might not be the most amazing trick – but it IS pretty entertaining to watch.

Our Westie Boris “sings” along to the EastEnders theme tune (a massively depressing English soap that’s hugely popular here in Ireland too.) He also pretends that his paw is hurt when he gets fed up of playing with his friend Joy, another Westie, so he can get a rest from her and a bit of human attention instead!
Also, he freaked us out big time one night when he seemed to, um, sense a presence in the living room – he refused to lie on and then kept growled at an unoccupied corner of the couch. Heckles raised, backing away from it slowly, the whole nine yards. Very creepy. Even my extremely logical Other Half had a bit of an “er… so let’s leave the lights on tonight” moment after it!

This isn’t a trick, but our big cat has a patented flop named after him. He likes to flop on your feet, thereby trapping his (petting) audience, and the flop echoes across the whole house!

Pony Up! Our dog Charlie is amazing at catching some air when we throw the frisbee but I’m often more impressed with how he wipes his face on the carpet after enjoying a delicious bone. It’s very charming.

My sister’s cat can jump up on top of an open door and perch on the edge. How she manages to balance on a 2″ thick door still amazes me!

PONY UP!
While not a super cool trick, I have seen my dog swollow food whole. Hotdogs are probably his favorite. I am pretty sure that is why he is over weight. But one minute its on the plate and then the next gone…and he has a guilty look on his face!

Whenever our 5 month old screams, our two parakeets, Nancy and Debbie (named after my mom and my husbands mother), start screaming too. A lot of noise but pretty funny too.
Emily says
PONY UP! I saw a video on teh internet a while back about an elephant who painted [an elephant]. Not 100% sure it wasn’t fake, but it looked really cool!
