This week we’re giving away a totally customized painting from a special group of artists. Wanna meet ’em? Allow us to introduce Blitz, Minnow, and Boomer: the artists in residence at Painting Pony. Yes, I said artists.
If the paintbrushes in their mouths weren’t proof enough that these Chincoteague Ponies know their way around a canvas (I know, I was a bit skeptical at first too), just check out the colorful artwork they create with the help of their trainer Kyley DiLuigi.
Not only do they create one-of-a-kind pieces (with a unique backstory, no less) they also let you add some input about the painting before it’s made, so it’s sure to complement your home. You get to pick the background color and up to four paint colors to be used AND you get to choose which four-legged artist creates it. Kyley also throws in a CD with photos and/or video of it being whipped up.
If you wanna see these artsy horses in action there’s a video of the painting process (as well as other tricks) on the Painting Pony website. Oh, and be sure to check out their rockstar Dachshund sidekick Ammo. Burger so wants to meet him someday.
Now on to the details for the prize (and stay tuned for another special offer on Thursday):
- PRIZE: A custom 16″ x 20″ canvas by Painting Pony as described in this Etsy listing.
- TO ENTER: Comment on this post with the words “PONY UP” and…
- BONUS QUESTION: …since this week’s prize is all about ponies with amazing tricks up their sleeves, why not tell us about another animal trickster you’ve been wowed by (whether its a skateboarding dog you spotted on YouTube or maybe even some amazing feat your own pet pulled off).
- GIVEAWAY CLOSES: Wednesday, September 15th at 8pm EST
- NUMBER OF WINNERS: One
- PRIZE SHIPS: Anywhere in the world!
- USUAL STUFF: One entry per e-mail address is permitted. The winner will be selected using random.org and announced on Thursday. Good luck…

While growing up, our dog could “speak” French. I studied French, and whenever I spoke it, he responded.

We dont have any pets. My mom is too allergic to all of them. :(
I’ve always loved horses though/.

My puppy (Who’s also known as my 12 year old 90lb GSD) has been known to do ANYTHING for food! She once ate 3 lbs of sausage out of the frying pan, which was on the stove, while nobody was looking. The frying pan didn’t move, so the only evidence was my poor pup burping and smelling like sausage for a week!

We’re trying to teach our Boston Terrier, Hamlet, how to jump into our arms on command but so far no dice. The family dog we had when I was growing up knew how to let herself out of the dog run, which was quite the feat.

I swear my beta fish love me, cause he swims up to say hi every time I walk in the kitchen (where his tank is). But maybe he’s just excited by the possibility of being fed? :)

PONY UP!!!! My dogs don’t know any tricks except to sit – but I LOVE to watch the TV show “America’s Funniest Videos” and watch all the animals on there! Some of them can do some GREAT tricks!!

My cat likes to stay out all night but occasionally he wants to come in at 5 or 6 am to eat. At our previous house, he figured out that he could climb an arborvitae planted at the corner of the house, get on the porch roof, come over to the bedroom window and meow and scratch at the screen to wake me up!! Now that’s a smart cat!

What a great giveaway… I have 2 horses of my own however I can’t say that this is on their list of talents… although there are quite a few others…. like my Missy’s skills at unlatching gates with her lips… so impresive! :)

PONY UP! I am constantly amazed by animals and their love for their human partners. I especially think it’s crazy cool how they know if you are hurting or sad and then get extra snuggly. That or the dogs that know when someone is going to have a seizure. They are interesting and helpful to be sure.

I am now dying to see if I could teach my horse to do this too!

My 3-legged cat can open doors with round knobs. We’ve never seen how he does it, but we have to put a chair in front of the door if we need him locked up for any reason. Kitty telekinesis?

Pony up! We’re waiting to hear back on an offer we made on a new house, and NEW artwork would definitely be a bonus!

The only trick my 4y/o English Bulldog can seem to manage is playing dead when my mom says “Pow ur Dead” and air shoots him. He only does this if you have Cheerios in your hand though!!! :)

I wish I could make my horse do this, it’s amazing! The only trick my 3 cats are able to do is being really cute and making me smile and not be mad although they broke something. Again….. But they’re actually really good at this!

I am constantly entertained by my silly schnauzer yorkie mix, Trevor. He’s a natural at playing dead, sticking ’em up, rolling over and high five-ing. My favorite though, is when he stands on his hind legs to sniff something or get a closer look at a dog on t.v. – he’s a character!

… my horse (and best friend) of the past 20 years just passed. Her best trick was being able to undo zippers and snaps to get at her horse treats. I miss her. I wish I had tried letting her paint.

Our family vacations when I was a kid were to Assateague Island, so these ponies have a special place in my heart. The story behind them is so fascinating!
My pug Lucca doesn’t have any great tricks, just the usual – which she won’t even consider doing unless there’s a treat involved!

PONY UP! My horse used to let my cat ride her – I’d look out the window and the cat would just be chilling on her back!
Jessica says
PONY UP! I wouldn’t call my dog amazing but she is very smart. We have had to teach her new things just to keep her from getting bored and destructive. She can do over 10 tricks and will fetch for as long as we’re willing to throw.
Jennifer P says
PONY UP! It’s not really a trick…but I’m always amazed at my parents’ cat. She hates when they leave and even if it’s just for the day…they always find a pile of puke for every day they’ve been gone. She can’t stand the separation anxiety!

PONY UP! I’ve recently been awestruck by surfing dogs. Here in the Los Angeles area, they have surfing dog competitions – who would’ve thought there was more than one amazing dog who could do that?!

Pony Up. I’ve never had a pet- but if I had one I sure would like to teach it to paint too!

I somehow trained my pup with a “Leave it” command. I have her lay down, then I put a treat on her paw. I tell her to leave it and she will leave it alone until I tell her to get her treat. It’s a great way to get her to calm down with no side effects aside from a puddle of drool. It even works with meat! Sometimes, if I’m not paying attention, the cat will eat the treat off of her paw. woops!
In other news, I love Chincotegue ponies! I can’t tell you how many times I read Misty of Chincotegue and all the related books when I was younger. I had the Bryer horses and forced my family to see the running of the ponies a few times.
