Samantha says
Woah! I was totally caught off guard and had no idea what was going on…and then I remembered you were planning on a big photo frame collage :) Excited!
jessie horney says
hooray- i can’t wait to see your version of the gallery wall! your ideas are always so much better than everyone else’s :)
Barbara says
Yay! Pics of the real deal soon I hope! Can’t wait! Hey, I’m the second person to comment. Go me!
Jennifer says
aha! a surprise late night post to feed my yhl addiction – woo hoo! It must be past my bedtime because I was pretty confused by your bizarre “artwork” until I realized that they were only flyers being used as placeholders while you figured out your frame arrangement. Yes, I can be a little slow sometimes…. Can’t wait to see the end result.
Jackie K. says
I say… keep that look! It’s fabulous! ;)
Shreya says
I already see the potential – Its going to look so great!
Morgan says
Everytime I hear that song, I immediately think of the flashmob dance: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwzN4633mpI

Ames says

Tina says
Oh my gosh I can not WAIT to see the final look! this has me excited all ready! lol
Sandy says
WOW!!! You guys are just all over the place. We went from rugs to finials to wall art. Yes … I said wall “Art”. Go for it. Can’t wait to see the outcome.
LauraC says
“like” haha
Toni says
Oh yay! Can’t wait to see how it all turns out!
Ashley says
Love the use of newspapers/magazines! Can’t wait to see it filled with pictures & Clara art!
Cait @ Hernando House says
Haha I like the use of it too, though admittedly all the color threw me off at first glance. “Whoa what the- oh, recycling junk mail/newspaper as templates, nice!”
karen says
oh this is going to look good.
Kayla says
Eeeeeeek! So excited!
lisa says
hahaha. when i saw the picture, i thought, wouldn’t it be funny, if they framed each of those store advertisement pictures and hung them up just like that? would be a real conversation piece, while allowing others to check out the sales going on at the stores. haha
Jes says
Bob would love it!!!
heather says
hahaha – when I first saw this quickly I thought that WAS their art..as is. I was like wtf? It took a quick second glance to see otherwise.
I apparently need some coffee.
Debbie says
Oooohhhhh I can not wait to see!!! I love gallery walls!
Laura says
Can’t wait to see exactly what you guys have up your sleeves. I am wanting to do a gallery wall in my hallway of art and family photos. Did you buy the frames and then figure out the grid, or vice versa? By the way, your art above Karl really looks fab on the Moonshine wall. Big score with that project!
YoungHouseLove says
We have a million and one frames from our old house, so we cut templates from the newspaper to hang on the wall based on all the mixed and matched frames that we already own!
xo,
s
Jessica says
Awesome! Love all of your ideas and can’t wait to have a house of my own one day soon to try some of them out ;) Can’t wait to see it!!
Meghan Solberg says
I KNOW! I KNOW! And I LOVE.
NYer says
loving the 10 o’clock post and the anticipation! Thanks!
is “can’t touch this” what you’ll be saying to Clara?
sweet dreams!
YoungHouseLove says
Haha, probably! We plan to secure the ones that she can reach to the wall, so maybe we’ll say “you can touch this, just be gentle” – haha.
xo,
s
Donita says
I follow another blogger, that tells her kids they can touch with one finger. They learn very quickly, and at a young age. We tell our Grandbabies, thats not a toy, and show them the toys. They learned very quickly, and would shake their head and say “that not a toy, is it grammy?” LOL Kids are so smart.
YoungHouseLove says
Ooh I love the one finger suggestion! Might have to use that one!
xo,
s
Amber says
I like to use the “look with your eyes…” line, love the one finger rule too!
Amy N says
I used the “one finger” technique because a friend suggested it as a way to keep my son from playing with the Christmas ornaments on the tree. It has worked really well! Now that he’s almost three, he even asks “I can touch this with one finger, mommy?” :)
Lisa G says
Love the way you are laying out the frames- can’t wait to see the finished look! We need to do this in our foyer also. Well, after I finally pick a paint color and paint it that is. I use the one finger touch with my son also- it works!
Meredith says
The wall will be GORGEOUS!!!
Don’t stress baby proofing. If kids grow up around important/precious/”dangerous” (mom’s sewing scissors, for instance) they get bored of adult stuff and don’t care. My friends who’s kids live in a baby-gated cage don’t know how to deal with real life at my house. I have had kids come over who run like tornadoes grabbing everything and anything and dumping/upending/flushing/emptying/drawing on everything they can get their hands on. Because they live in baby-gated soft rooms at home. And yes, I have little kids. I have a 2, 7 and 9 year old. I have another friend who keeps a candy dish out for guests. Friends come over and are amazed her own kids don’t go nutso eating it all. She said they did a couple times and now they couldn’t care less.
Sierra says
Four kids later I have never tried the “one finger” thing and I’m ALL OVER it! lol I use the “look with your eyes” and if they can’t control themselves they have to keep their hands in their pockets.
LOVE the templates newpapers! I can’t wait to see it all come together. :)
Karen says
Oh Lord! I’m very much into symmetry and balance, so that would drive me crazy. LOL It’s certainly going to be fun, tho. Can’t wait to see the finished product.
My only thought is that maybe you should keep the outside frames in line with one another… to sort of frame the whole arrangement and make it less busy looking. But then again… that could be my OCD’ness coming out. LOL
Stephanie says
I can’t wait, it’s going to look awesome! :)
Jessica says
Looks like something I am going to love! Can’t wait to see…
Shari @ Chicago Cuisine Critique says
Can’t wait to see it!!!
Jen @ The Decor Scene says
When I first open this and saw the pics, I thought “what the heck did they hang up”? LOL. But then it made sense once I realized what wall I was looking at. Love it so far. Can’t wait to see actual frames. ;)
Melissa @ A Place to Nest says
Sneaky squirrel… late night post :) Cannot wait to see the gallery wall when done. Or you could just leave this and test if Clara is colorblind ;)
YoungHouseLove says
Haha to sneaky squirrel. I love it! Clara saw the wall all crazy and colorful after waking up from a nap and was like “oooh, I want to rip that all down- let me get close enough!” – haha. She has a thing for paper- namely newspaper.
xo,
s
Shayna says
When both my girls were Clara’s age they loved to rip pages out of old magazines. It would keep them busy, and in on place for a good half hour!
Meredith says
I am so excited to see how it all works out – it will be gorgeous no doubt!!!
Jacquelin Seybert says
You teasers! Can’t wait to see!
Caroline @ Between Your Ears says
A gallery wall! Hurray! Hurray! Good luck. Putting all those holes in the wall makes me nervous! I’m sure y’all will do a smashing job though!
tia says
So funny your DIY art is getting edgy ;)
Ashli says
Loving where this is going!!! Can’t wait to see how it looks, not that the newspaper isn’t fabulous in it’s own rite :)

Michelle says
I can’t help but fear for that ceramic dog once Clara becomes mobile! Looking forward to the reveal!
liz @ btb says
Yay! Can’t wait to see all those frames up!
anne says
Looks awesome. If you make one of the lower ones a small magnetic white board Clara can create her own art.
YoungHouseLove says
Love that idea!
xo,
s
Jen says
OK, I must have been channeling you guys today! The hubs and I were doing home improvement projects (our house is going on the market) and I was blasting this song while we worked. (OK, that’s not strictly true– I had to take a dance break for this song).
YoungHouseLove says
Love it! Every good home improvement project calls for a dance break!
xo,

Christa M says
The music channel on my TV was playing this song this morning as I was attempting to get up…I found myself kicking my feet in bed while laying down. Hah! Can’t wait to see the gallery wall!!!
Sandy says
Wait! Does this late night post mean that we are not gonna get a post tomorrow morning???? I hope that I’m wrong. My coworker and I take turns checking to see if your post is out so we can then take our coffee break. Oh it’s so gonna throw us off if you don’t post. :(
YoungHouseLove says
No worries! We just like to toss out a bonus night or weekend post every once in a while cause we’re crazy like that. Haha.
xo,
s
Jennifer says
2, 4, 6, 8 — you learned that planning’s really great! I *hate* the tedious task of making picture templates, but am always burned when I don’t. Good to see the Ribba experience paid off … and looking forward to the results!
YoungHouseLove says
Haha, it’s true! So annoying but worth it for sure!
xo,
s
Kristi says
Ooh, can’t wait! I’ve been wanting to try it in our bedroom, but don’t know how to start. Y’all are the best! :)
Claire says
My kids would destroy the lower pictures faster than we could get them up, haha. I’m sure that Clara is much better behaved than my three boys! Can’t wait to see the end result
YoungHouseLove says
We’re definitely going to secure them to the wall and beg Clara to “be gentle” five hundred times. Haha.
xo,
s
LauraC says
Oh, is she crawling now?!
YoungHouseLove says
Not more than a few scoots here and there, but the doc thinks she might go straight to walking like our nephew did. She’s pulling up a lot these days…
xo,
s
Alisa says
Loves it! Now that I see the placement of the gallery wall, I can understand why you opted to not put a ceramic dog petting chair in there ;)
Kristen says
Ooooh! I can’t wait to see the final result! I love a photo wall!
Stephanie says
I love the sneak peak! And the extra post today, such a lovely surprise before bed.
Brooke says
At first I was like wow that’s colorful! Then I was like Clara is too young to be making fun artwork…then remembered your gallery wall. It’s going to look awesome!
Brooke says
Obviously, my eyesight is pretty bad since I couldn’t tell they were ads lol
Kiran says
Framed collages? Can’t wait to see the transformation :)
Anna @ The Owl & The Phoenix says
oOo, so excited to see the final product! And, the flyers reminded me I was going to see what Target had on sale this week…
Love that MC Hammer flash mob too =)

Beth R.S. says
Okay, this is 10 kinds of awesome. If this looks half as good as I expect it will, I’m dragging my hubby to Ikea this weekend for frames. :)
Emily says
Lol, finally my last- minute, late-night FB check paid off! :-p
Unrelated to frames, I keep seeing mini white ceramic animals in stores for Spring/Eater and thinking of you. Lol! :)
heather transue says
I might need 3 Tylenol PMs to get me to sleep after this teaser…… can’t wait!!!
Beth says
Um, perhaps you might find something lovely in our Etsy shop for those frames? We have lots of $15 letterpress prints…and some really awesome big prints. I’m partial to our “Things That Are…” series.

Love love love this blog…and it’s the first time I’ve commented!
Beth H. says
Is it weird that I really like the way the ad’s look? I think its just the colors but I loved the “pictures” at first :] looks like a great set up. I want to do same thing at our house, just working on collecting enough art!
