Hanging With Nate Dog

This post might be filed under the annoying “teaser” category but we can’t tell you anything other than to cryptically announce that you might want to watch The Nate Show next Monday (the 25th) or DVR it if you’re fancy like that because… we’re going to be on it!!!

It’s a syndicated show, so we don’t know what channel or time it’s on in your area (in fact it doesn’t even air in Richmond, which is the bane of our existence) but if you hit up thenateshow.com you can use their station finder feature for more info. We’ve always been huge fans of Nate and his work, so we can’t wait to check out Monday’s episode (and unzip our lips about it after it airs).

Whirlwind doesn’t even begin to describe it. They called us on a Wednesday, flew us out on a Thursday, and we were rehearsing and taping bright and early on a Friday. Oh and Mrs. Limestone was there too- it was really fun to meet her and her hubs in the flesh!

By 1pm that day we were back on a plane for home (landing just in time for the arrival of The Bowers). It felt kind of like a dream since we were gone for less than 24 hours. We promise more info as soon as we’re permitted to spill the beans. Until then I’ll leave you with this picture of Nate’s iconic designer hair…

    Exciting!!!!! I can’t believe you guys can keep this a secret for so long!! Can you at least tell us how Clara and Burger did?? I assume they tagged along as well?

      Hey Sarah,

      Clara did tag along and was awesome (more on that later). Burger manned the fort back at home since we were gone less than 24 hours (and my sister stopped in to care for him like when we were in the hospital with Clara). Thanks for asking!

    HOORAY! This is totally my new fave show, and my fave DIY bloggers are going to be on! For those in the Philadelphia metro area….I’ll save you the extra step of looking it up! It’s on NBC 10 at 2:00pm. Can’t wait for Monday!

    Weird, I never even knew about KPRC This TV (which is my Comcast Channel 320, apparently)! Nor did I know of Nate Berkus. But I will be setting my DVR when I get home! Woohoot!

    Wow…you two are so funny/phenomenal! How did you ever keep that a secret? I would have been entirely too pumped to keep it to myself.

    Also I was just thinking that somewhere deep down inside Sherry you wanted to be a rapper! :) You have quite a repertoire (Nate Dog, Montell Williams, Missy Elliott) that you’re able to whip out at a moments notice. I think you all should consider DIY-ing a studio in the basement of the next Casa Petersik!

    OMG, I just watched the Sally Field interview on Nate’s page – and I am laughing my butt off! The way she described Jamie Lee Curtis was hysterical! I think Sally needs her own show.

    I had a feeling something was going on, as I saw this exact same picture on Ms. Limestone’s site this morning, which is weird, because yours is the only one I really “follow” I was just clicking around killing time and ended up on her site, and thought- wow- all these bloggers much know each other somehow…

    and then here’s the same picture!!

    I get Nate’s show, I already set my DVR, and told my husband… “my peeps are going to be on Nate on the 25th!!! woot woot…” if only he understood my giddiness!! :)

    I’m so excited for you guys! I’ll have to check that my TIVO is still set to tape his show. I really really love that he’s giving so many bloggers and DIY peeps airtime. I mean, I know he needs content too, but I’m so grateful that he’s shining light where there’s so much talent instead of only relying on the standard, established TV folk.

    Congratulations!!! How exciting. And I’m not trying to brag or anything, but I predicted you guys would be on Nate’s show a month or so ago when you teased about some big news on FB :) I wasn’t right at the time, but I’d like to think that my prediction subliminally got the wheels in motion. Am I right, or am I right?

      Hey Brooke,

      The funny thing is that you were right waaay back then. They actually contacted us before their show even launched (in August) but then it ended up getting postponed (we were crushed). So when they called us out of the blue that fateful Wednesday and had us on a plane on Thursday we could hardly believe it!

    Wow – lucky you! How did you guys get invited on the show? And how do you get to be part of all these magazines? I would love to know ‘what is your secret’….I think it is so fabulous that you two are having so much success!!! You truly deserve it – your blog is so wonderful.

      Hey Heather,

      Our secret is to just stay passionate about the projects that we take on and blogging in general (and never do it for fame or money- you have to do it because it’s what you love)! We actually don’t solicit shows or advertisers or columns in magazines- they approach us out of the blue and never fail to leave us pinching ourselves! We always encourage other bloggers to write about things that they love so their enthusiasm is practically contagious. That seems to be how people end up emailing us about different opportunities (since there’s no lack of excitement about DIY here at YHL). We’re endlessly thankful for the amazing life changing adventures that this little ol’ blog has tossed our way.

      Yes! They originally approached us before the show even launched but it ended up getting postponed (we were crushed). Thank goodness they called us out of the blue on the 6th and we were on a plane on the 7th. Insanity!

    Are you going to post a video of it after it airs? I work during the time it is on in my area so I won’t be able to see it! I’m so excited though – congrats to you two! I’m hoping this might make up for the huge blogger debacle that his production team royally screwed up a few weeks ago!

    I’ve been meaning to add his new show to my DVR schedule, I certainly won’t forget now! I mean, he’s such a big part of the Oprah family…you guys were practically on Oprah ;) Just think of that for a moment…

      Haha, it’s from Express actually. Snagged about an hour before we got on the plane since they said I couldn’t wear black (so 99% of my wardrobe was out).

      Back in August we announced that we had a crazy amazing opportunity (which was an appearance on The Nate Show that they contacted us about before the show even launched) but then it got postponed and we were crushed so we announced that it wasn’t going to happen anymore. Lo and behold it did! We couldn’t believe when they called out of the blue a few weeks ago.

    I went to set my DVR, but its too far in advance… So I just set an alarm on my phone to watch it and DVR it! Can’t wait!

    I guess its too late to say, “Break a leg” or “Good Luck,” so, I’ll just say “Congrats!”
