He’s here!

We’re thrilled to introduce the newest member of our family, baby Teddy!

On Wednesday, April 16th at 8:51 am, Theodore Freeman Petersik was born wielding a tiny drill weighing in at 8 lbs on the dot and measuring 19.5 inches long. We’re crazy in love with him, including Clara who just can’t stop kissing and snuggling “her baby.” Especially when he whimpers or coos, it becomes her personal mission to soothe him.

Teddy was named after my dad’s dad Theodore (who went by Teddy his entire life) and his middle name honors John’s maternal grandfather (Freeman is John’s middle name too). Teddy is already proving to be a little spitfire like his sister, although he came into the world a lot less dramatically, for which we’re eternally grateful. We’re both so relieved and overjoyed that he’s healthy and here in our arms.

Thank you all so much for the love, kind words, good vibes, prayers, and well-wishes that you’ve sent our way throughout this pregnancy. The c-section delivery went flawlessly and I’m feeling great, so it’s a nice contrast from my last rodeo. Our little family of five (Burger counts!) has never felt so blessed.

Speaking of Burger, we’ll be in the hospital through this weekend, so he has yet to meet his newest bestie/crumb provider (he’s at our house with the grandparents, being spoiled to no end), but we’re sure they’ll be fast friends. We hope to be back to blogging on Monday when we’re home, albeit on a slower schedule. Until then, we’ll leave you with this:

    Congrats. We’re followers of the blog and our first son was born a few months after Clara. It was pretty cool when y’all announced you were having a boy in April since we knew we were too. How funny that our second son Jasper was born this Wednesday at 8:45am, only minutes before Teddy. God bless you guys.

      Congrats, Todd. I was reading some comments and “Jasper” caught my eye. I have a son named Jasper that will be two in June. So far we haven’t come across too many other Jaspers. Hope you have a good sleeper on your hands!!

    Last night, I said, “I wonder if John & Sherry’s baby is here!” out loud to my fiance. He was all like, “Who are John and Sherry?” thinking you were some of our friends. :) And then I reminded him you are the couple from YHL. And he was like, “Oh yeah!” because he has done several of your tutorials and I’m always showing him your posts. So it’s like we are excited for our friends! I logged on this morning and was thrilled to see the news! <3 Congrats!

    I love the name!!! So cool that you guys honor family with your kids names… And Sherry… Hot mama!!! So thankful that things went well but I’ll continue to pray for you guys because I know recovery/breastfeeding/loss of sleep plus already having a little one will be so new! Sounds like Clara is already a great little helper though!!! :D

    Hi Clara! I have a special message just for you! I am a big sister to a younger brother too and we always had fun together when we were kids. I loved playing Legos and trains with him when he got older. Our favorite thing to do was build forts around the couch. Always remember to be patient when he is little and to always give lots of love, I know you will!

    Hi Sherry, John, Clara and gorgeous Teddy. While we wait for more news from the new miracle in the family I re read Clara’s birthstory from a few years back.

    I started reading your blog when I was on maternity leave with my Olivia, five months younger than your Clara. She also was born via C-section because of a placental abruption. And reading your story (again, because I’ve been reading you every day since February 2011) touched so close to my heart. I cried (again, today) and it made me so relieved to hear both mommy and baby boy were just fine right after his arrival.

    I hope that even though you said on that post that this new pregnancy would be laced with some fear, it wasn’t as bad and you were able to allow it to be the happiest of times. If anything, there’s so many of us readers (fans? friends?) cheering for you guys, so that’s gotta add up to the excitement at least a bit, no?

    Okay, long enough already, I’m thinking maybe, hopefully you’ll have a bit of alone time while Teddy sleeps and you’ll have a few words of love and encouragement waiting for you here in your comments.

      Oh, PS: I also think Teddy looks like Clara, who looked like John right away BUT (here’s the but), I think it’s safe to say we all see a mini Sherry when we see her now, amiright ladies? I’m so anxious to see him grow! God bless you all.

    He is just adorable and so, so happy for you two!!

    A tip – When you get home, keep a pillow with you at all times and keep it on your tummy; that way Clara can cuddle and get close, and you won’t be injured. It was a great help when I had a C section.
