After Jordan and Landon shared their amazingly affordable (and drop dead gorgeous) kitchen overhaul with us (here), we definitely were left wanting more. So when they offered up the opportunity to House Crash them, we said “uh… yes please.” And we figured since it’s their house they’d be the best at showing you around, so we’re passing the virtual mic over to them for the tour while we clean our house within an inch of it’s life in an effort to woo a few more potential buyers this weekend (fingers crossed). Enjoy the tour!
Welcome to our home in Columbia, South Carolina! We’re Jordan & Landon from landonjacob.com.
You’ve already seen the kitchen (here), but we’ll share that pic again, just to refresh your memory:
This is our dining room. The wine bottles come from one of our favorite wedding venues that we shoot at often! We had them hold the bottles for us (and we bought a bottle cutter on eBay).
That’s actually a DIYed mirror leaning against the wall. We bought mirrored closet doors on Craigslist for $40 for the pair and then found an old weathered pallet, took it apart, and made two mirrors (one for in here and one for the hallway).
Our dining table is an amazing thrift store find that people ooh and ahh over. It was just 10 bucks! The chairs and bench were bought at a yard sale, and the ottoman was a throw out item from a friend.
Next we have our living room:
As you can see above, Landon made two frames out of more pallets. We really love that rustic wood (its kinda all over the house). We made that ottoman which was actually inspired by Kara’s DIY ottoman that you shared!
Oh and that old wine bottle crate in the foreground works as an awesome magazine holder. We also love our little DIY end tables which we made from vintage suitcases on legs. We also like those hanging baskets from Ikea on the wall next to the sofa (it was actually an idea we stole from the ikea catalog). The doors on the wall above the bookcases are original doors from the home, so we wanted to incorporate them into the room.
Next we have our bedroom, where we added the beadboard wainscotting ourselves and hung a bunch of inexpensive frames that I sprayed white on the wall in a group.
And here’s our bathroom. Can you tell we have a think for big mirrors? We love how they open things up and make rooms feel lighter and bigger.
This is our awesome little hallway! Its my favorite space in the house! Its about the size of our other rooms! The chairs were thrifted for $40 and we recovered them. That’s also the second homemade mirror that we made with the mirrored doors from Craigslist and the weathered wood pallet. We also grabbed that lotus light fixture from Ikea.
This is our office / crafts room. We thrifted that awesome craft table for 5 bucks. We also love instruments (we love music around here since my dad was a musician, and Landon is one as well… I sing, but technically that’s not a musician). Anyway I love how the blue guitar fits so perfectly in this room and that it gets to be a piece of art on the wall.
This is the spare bedroom. We found the bed on Craigslist and I bought those awesome orange curtains for about $1.50 at Goodwill!
This is our spare bathroom that we just finished off! It was a huge mess before! It’s so very tiny, so its kinda hard to show off in pictures, but I tried! That is your sink and faucet by the way (I was inspired by your bathroom overhaul) so we ordered them and added them to an antique wash stand that we found! And of course we have another huge mirror, but it really makes this bathroom feel so much bigger!
Ok, so that’s our house. Thanks so much for sharing it! – Jordan & Landon
So who’s jealous? Our hands are officially raised. Thanks so much to Jordan and Landon for sharing their home and all of their affordable DIY ideas. We’re sufficiently inspired. What was your favorite part everyone?

Just posted this on the other thread, too. Need advice:
We are doing a major full-house remodel including the kitchen. It will be completely open to the living room (one big room really). We are putting wood floor down in the entire space to make it seemless, but just realized a potential snag: we were planning on light birch cabinets in the kitchen. Will that be too much wood tone on wood tone? I like the look of your white cabinets, but we just took out some horrible white melamine cabinets (I know, different story) that showed all kinds of dirt. We swore we would NOT have white cabinets again. Any ideas? Thanks!
YoungHouseLove says
Does anyone have ideas for Kim? We love white cabs with wood floors ourselves, but we also have seen wood cabinets and wood floors that look great as long as they’re not too matchy matchy!

Darling house! It’s so airy and open. Thanks for sharing.
House Crashing is my favorite part of this blog. So inspiring.
Kristi says
Wow! I love it!! The living room is probably my favorite, but truly I love it all! I’m very inspired. :) Thanks for showing it off!

One more question, please! Where are the window treatments from? It looks like they have used the same basic white ones throughout the house. I am going on three years with nothing on my windows (much to the husbands dismay) and I think that may be just what I’ve been looking for! What a beautiful home!!!

These pics convinced my better half to (finally) spend this morning on Craigslist with me looking for chairs – thanks!!!

My husband and I just recently installed butcher block countertops in our kitchen. We put three coats of waterlox on it, and it is totally water repellent. I was wondering what they used on their counters. I also love the color scheme of paint they used throughout the house.

awesome! Love the mirrors!! How was the wood attached to the mirror door? Was that what the gorilla glue was used for? Thanks!
Ashley says
I love the mirrors. We are redoing our guest bath and a framed mirror would be great in there! Thanks for the inspiration!!

I in live with this house! I just want to live there!

Is that a piano in your bedroom? We have a small ranch and the piano just takes so much space in the living room!
Beth says
What a great looking home! Chic, yet comfortable!

Someone asked about the Eden Pendant and whether or not it is bright enough. We have one over our dining room table, on a dimmer, and it works great. :)

To try and help out kim, i think if the wood on the cabinets and floor contrasts enough (light wood on cabinets darker on the floor) could look amazing with the right wall color and lighting~ I am a fan of the way houses look with white cabinets, but have not mastered living with white and keeping them clean! haha
So excited to hear feedback on the lotus light from ikea~ we bought one for above our kitchen table and have still been debating~ thanks for the help all!

I am loving the black and white floor tile you used in your small bathroom. I am currently renovating a 1940’s era Cape Cod, and the bathroom is the last major job remaining. I have been looking for floor tile ideas for quite some time now, and want something simple, classic, and in keeping with the style of the house. I have seen this tile used in other renovations, but it has always been pictured in much larger bathrooms, leading me to wonder if it might be too busy-looking for my tiny room. (Seriously, I can stand in the center of the room, stretch my arms out, and touch the side walls.) Thanks to the photograph of your re-do, I can see that it also looks great in smaller spaces. Choosing floor tile can now be crossed off my never-ending list of things to do!

Hey Jordan! Your house is tdf! Great job on everything!
Quick question about the shelf ledge over your living room sofa: Is it the Ribba picture ledge from Ikea? Approx how high above the couch did you hang it?
Thanks!

What an amazing home! I am so inspired by your wonderful diy decor… I am going to try and make some mirrors with reclaimed wood. I love the look and the idea of reusing. Thanks for sharing!
Anni says
Would absolutely LOVE to see a more in-depth DIY tutorial feature on the leaning mirrors from the closet doors/palettes. I’ve been looking for a good leaning mirror, and they’re all too expensive or too polished!

There’s such a thing as a bottle cutter? Must. Have.

LOVE! Thank you YHL so much for sharing this house crash – it was so inspiring – comfy, glam, chic- all rolled up into one lovely package. I have to say – Jordan and Landon had me at the front door! And, if they would not mind sharing, what is the paint color they used? It’s so pretty and perhaps perfect for one of my projects. Thanks!
Sima says
I love the decor. And the mirrors made from reclaimed wood are something I would love to do as a project. My fav room is the master bedroom and hallway. Amazing what you can find on Craiglist. Very inspiring post. Love your home.

Ahh! I am so inspired by the grey/coral/green color scheme of the spare bedroom! *melt*

OMG! I am salivating over this house on account of the awesome style and the sheer thriftiness. We are trying to finish a remodel on our house but my hubby is laid-off. I need thrifty guidance! BTW we are totally taking inspiration from your kitchen remodel. I didn’t think we could afford what I wanted but after reading that post I know it is possible. Thanks for the breakdown of cost and items too. Love your house!

Love this tour!
I can’t see if anyone else has asked the same question, but am wondering what size the Ikea light in the hall is (the small, medium or large version)? I want to hang one over our dining table but I’m not sure what size to go with.
Kim says
Thanks Katie! We were thinking that the floors would be a bit darker for contrast. With 2 pre-teens, white is just a constant battle. And we like the warm look that wood can bring to a room. We would still love to hear any ideas out there!
Nancy Shirley says
For Kim- My son’s townhouse has light maple cabinets, and a med tone oak floor. He had a cream counter top and it looked fine. After he moved out, the new owners put in a granite countertop in a mix of light brown tones and it REALLY pulled everything together. The best part is it is still neutral and you can go several different directions with colors for accessories.I think as long as the floor is slightly different in shade to the cabinets it will look great!
Kellie says
Love this house! Where did they get the screen door on their front door? It would look so good on my farm house! I need to find one. :)

i think i’ll be stealing every room’s ideas. thanks :)

WOW! I love the color palette, the wine bottle light fixture, the pallet mirrors… I can keep going. Diving into their blog right now to hopefully find some more detail. Thanks for sharing!

Pallets can be toxic to your health! They are full of chemicals. Google it and you will find out NEVER use pallets in your home! This is one example http://www.poetichome.com/2010/08/30/toxic-exposure-the-danger-of-repurposing-pallets/
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Janine,
Thanks for sharing that warning. Hopefully people who want to use them can seal them with some green product like Safecoat poly (which can also be used to seal in lead or other toxins for a healthy and safe home).

Yes, I remember this kitchen…it’s flagged as inspiration for our own kitchen remodel! I think I’ll be tyring out the white picture frame decor from the master bedroom, very clever!

I like the wine bottle fixture, but I’m not sure I could pull it off.
I think at my house it would look more like a warning to other bottles.

Oh my goodness I am smitten for this house! This is by way my favorite house crashing post.
I was wondering if they could elaborate on the DIY vintage suitcase end tables. I love the vintage suitcases and I have quite a few I have found and bought but I would love another unique idea for using them instead of just storage!

Oh how I love you, Jordan and Landon!!! You are both uber-talented!!! XOXO

Hi! Awesome house crash! Thanks for sharing! Sorry if I missed this question/answer, but am looking for something to lean a big mirror on like the ottoman type piece in your master bathroom. Mind sharing where you scored that find? Thanks!

Hi, you both have a beautiful home and i hope I’m not asking a question already answered,(I tried to go through the comments first). First where did the stool/bench/seat in the master bath come from? LOVE IT! The next was about the GREAT pallet mirror, most pallets I have seen are not big enough for the length of the mirror, so did you just butt or miter end to end even on the sides not just at the corners? (hope that makes sense) Thanks in advance for reading cause I see you got ALOT of comments, but, it seems like a great compliment!
YoungHouseLove says
Here’s hoping they drop in with that info for you soon!

I am DUMBFOUNDED by this entire space – but ESPECIALLY the hallway (!) The full-length pallet mirror, the chairs (divine!), and balanced out with that modern chandelier?? I made it my screensaver. SO lovely! Thank you guys for featuring such amazing places!!

I LOVE the mirror in the spare bathroom – it would be perfect in my powder room. I called Jordan on their business line and asked, but didn’t get a return call. Any suggestions of how I can get that information? Love your blog – good luck finding a new house to love!!
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Jan,
Maybe try leaving a comment or an email not over on their blog? They might return letters more easily than phone calls. Fingers crossed!

Hi Jan, Im sorry, our business line is funny sometimes! I never got the message. We purchased the mirror from Home Goods!
And Il try and explain the steps to making the suitcase tables. All we did was pick out our suitcase and 4 legs ( we had from old end tables we weren’t using anymore) and we just screwed 4 screws, one into each leg through the inside of the suitcase! It was pretty easy! Hope that makes sense!
YoungHouseLove says
Thanks for dropping in with that info Jordan!

Love the Lotus fixture from IKEA (the one in their hall) but I have heard it is cheap and plastic-y looking in person. Is this the case? :(
YoungHouseLove says
Anyone have any opinions? It’s definitely made of white plastic, but I think how people perceive it is a personal preference thing. We’ve seen it in person in a few people’s homes and loved it! To us the white plastic design just reads as modern and unusual.
