Ever wonder what my average day looks like? I’m sure you guys picture me sleeping in, taking a bubble bath, writing a post or two, sipping some Earl Grey in the sunroom and calling it a day. Oh, if only that were true (seriously, I dream about that life). In fact, I only realized how not true it was when Camila over at High-Heeled Foot In The Door asked me to document my day for her new feature “In Her Shoes.” Man, I’m a blog nerd! I seriously need a little alarm that screeches “Step away from the laptop!”
Head on over to get the scoop about a day in the life of little ol’ me. Thanks for the fun Camila!

Love your shoes! :)

Really fun that you shared your day. If it’s not too nosey to ask…I have been reading your blog for about a year and a half now. I thought I remembered that you worked from home but not full time on the blog. Did you quit your “other” job to do the blog full time? How long have you been doing the blog full time? Spill it~~ :)
Keep up the good work! You are one of the VERY few blogs that posts multiple relevant posts each day! Makes my day more entertaining!
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Kelly S,
Thanks so much for the kind words! I actually jumped ship on my advertising copywriting career last May to see what I could do if I put all of my energy into the blog. I definitely wouldn’t have nearly enough time to run the site at this capacity with a full time job to juggle, so I’m really glad I made the leap. It was scary for a while (and money was tight) but it always pays to do what you love and love what you do!
xoxo,
Sherry

Adore Camila and take great delight in seeing my artwork as her header!
Now I am smitten with your young home as mine is not oh so young but my own and I love it!
Loved being part of your day and you made me very hungry! My pooch loves your porch, aka lounge!

I love this blog, and to be honest, have wondered what goes into the day of a full-time blogger. That daybed looks basically heavenly to work in. Maybe that’s why you always sound like such a happy person! :) Keep it up!

I’m glad that you are doing what you love and enjoying every minute of it!

Wow you stay super busy! I had fun reading about your day.

Can’t wait to check out your “day”! …and I have the same exact shoes (from Target!) in black–love ’em!

Thanks for sharing a peek into your daily routine as a blogger, I think we often forget the amount of time that goes into it. I’ve been reading your blog for about a year now and it is one of the first sites I visit each day!

Can I have your life? :) I love your blog and it’s a dream of mine to work from home. My third grade class is mighty funny, but that daybed looks like heaven!

I almost wrote to suggest this post topic. Thanks for sharing! I wonder though, do you ever get lonely working by yourself at home all day?
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Julie,
Good question. Hmm, I think I’m too busy to be lonely. I mean I blink my eyes and John’s home. Every day the day gets away from me! Sometimes it would be nice to have access to a car to get out for a bit (we’re a one car family and John takes it to work every day) but for the most part I’m happy to have Burger’s company and to be so busy that I don’t notice I’m devoid of human contact!

Sherry, have you checked out polyvore.com. It’s not perfect about clipping out all backgrounds, but once you get it set up, you can build new style boards in minutes. Saves so much time.
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Jill,
Thanks for the thought! We have checked out Polyvore and it’s great! We just love the crisp look of the numbered mood boards that we make in Photoshop (4 years of graphic design/art-direction classes in college have stuck with me)- and we must admit that the part that takes forever is hunting down the perfect items for each makeover (cutting ’em out really isn’t much of a hardship- especially because we’re deliriously happy to be almost done!).
xoxo,
Sherry

What a fun glimpse into your day! I love that Burger sleeps till 10…once we take Oscar the dachshund from his blanket nest at the foot of our bed and put him on the floor every morning he trots his little self right around the corner to the living room, jumps up on the couch into his pillow nest from the night before and assumes the donut position until such time as we feed him or boot him outside before we leave for work. I heart doggies :)

The job of my dreams, except I’d stay in my PJs all day. Forget the UPS guy or Jehova’s Witnesses. They’re just staring ’cause they’re jealous.

This was fun! Thanks for it, and I hope you are appropriately flattered that she wanted you to be her first interview! Wheeee!
And I love the shoes, too.

My husband I are going to redo our master bedroom and I know I will have some questions for you!
I read your blog everyday…keep posting. I love it.

I wish I could open the link: “In Her Shoes” but its blocked at work. I’m lucky I can getaway and escape to this blog/inspiration (ADDICTED). So, I see that you mentioned “laptop”. I’m craving me a Mac and am torn between an iMac and a notebook. Being that you both come from the graphic design/artsy world what would you suggest? Sorry for such a random question.
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Yvette,
Hmm, good question. It’s definitely personal preference, but we have a laptop as opposed to a desktop and we love it. Of course we’re both Mac lovers, so that’s a given. But as for whether you’ll like an iMac or a notebook better, it’s really all about how you use your computer (our computer is also where we play movies/shows sometimes and it’s where we store- and play- our entire library of music… so the wireless, easy-move laptop really works for us). Hope it helps!
xoxo,
Sherry

I’d love to read this, but I don’t think the link is working anymore! Any chance it’s still available??

Hey Katie,
Sorry about that! We updated the link in the post above and have it here for you too (everyone loves a shortcut): http://high-heelfootinthedoor.blogspot.com/2009/04/in-her-shoes-this-young-house.html

I was working my way back from the begining of time (ok, actually it was just your first post) and found this and was sooo looking forward to see “a day in the life of”…you! Is there any way of reposting it? Pretty please.

Oops nevermind… I just saw the last post with the new link

This was fun to read! I LOVE the chocolate in “celebration of vegetable consumption.” And the fact that you eat peanut butter from a jar. You seem so down to earth and normal…which is probably why I love your blog so much. Sorry for commenting on a random post- I’m in the process of reading through your archives (it’s taking me a while, but worth it!).
