We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.
The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.
(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)
Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.
Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!
Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

YAY! So happy for you all! Clara and Burger are going to make an excellent sibling duo :) When in April are you due? As an April baby myself, I can vouch for how wonderful children we make… although maybe my mom would beg to differ ?? I can’t claim to have any buns yet, but definitely in the plans for the next year so really excited to see you guys put together the new nursery… maybe I’ll be doing the same next year!

I am soooooooooo so so so so so happy for you guys – I have tears in my eyes, haha! I was also in a car accident during my first trimester, it totaled my car but thankfully my then-bean-sized boy survived and is now about to be 2! I wish you all the best with this pregnancy!!!!
YoungHouseLove says
Oh my gosh, I’m so glad you and your son were ok! It’s so scary! Our accident wasn’t even that bad, but I had some achiness and cramping that really scared us.

Ahhhhhhhh! I’m due in April too!!!! The 11th to be exact… I’ve shared some heartache on Bower Power blog about this process, but let’s just say I’ve been waiting for this baby for a while, and we are over the moon about it! We are currently awaiting our blood test results to make sure baby’s healthy. So excited for your family! Congratulations!!!

Yay!!! Congratulations! Can’t wait to meet the little one, but first to see how that “future nursery” is prepped to meet him/her. :-) Does Clara have a preference on a little sister or little brother? or is she just generally excited?

Congrats!!

Congratulations! How exciting! The funny thing is I had wondered if you were pregnant based on something you said a few weeks ago. It didn’t really imply anything, but my immediate thought was that you guys were expecting. I am SO happy for you all, and glad that my intuition is still working. ;) Wishing you a safe and happy pregnancy and an uneventful, beyond your bundle of joy, delivery.
My daughter is also expecting in early April, the 10th, and she, too, is high risk. She (they) lost their first child last October, a week before the beginning of her 2nd trimester… this being the last week of her first trimester, they are somewhat anxious, especially as there have been a few complications along the way, a blood clot for one and a lot of spotting. The irony is that the first due date was a week after their current due date, which I think has added a little to their fear. If everything proceeds normally this week, they will announce to the rest of family and their friends their exciting news next week.
Blessings to you all!

I really really try not to comment unless it will kill me if I don’t. Especially when I know there will be 2000 comments identical to mine. Well this would kill me. :)
I am so happy for you. No questions here… just goosebumps and teary eyes.
From a mom of four little ones. XO

Morning sickness tip: SKITTLES. The don’t do anything for the nausea but they mask the gross vomit taste. :)
Ammie says
Congrats Petersik family!! I’m due the very end of March, and I can completely commiserate with Sherry’s all day fun (bleh – not!) but it seems to be almost passing so hopefully she’ll start feeling better soon.
And how awesome to be expecting at the same time as KB!!
Did you both know while you guys were on vacation together?
Congrats again – can’t wait to follow along your fun journey :)
Ali @ Solano's Kitchen says
I knew it!! For some reason I was really thinking you guys might be pregnant – sounds crazy (especially as someone who doesn’t know you in real life :) ), but true! Congratulations!!!

Yay petersiks!!
So very excited for you.
I just had our second little girl and I have to say, Isla June has been the most amazing big sister. The age difference is so great; Clara will be your little helper and love on that baby so much :)
Sending prayers to you for a healthy baby and momma. High risk is scary, but you are in His hands!
P.s. I wrote about what helped me with my all day everyday sickness on my blog. That’s the yucks!
saVUryandsweet says
Thrilled for you Petersiks!! I just had my baby in August and I’m already missing the belly. What are you craving mama? What are you excited for?
Lindsay says
Clara is so stinkin cute in that pic!
Questions:
Will you reuse any nursery furniture?
Will Clara finally be out of the crib?
How long have you been trying (if you don’t mind me asking)
How far are you and how did you find out?
Your DIY stuff for Clara’s nursery were what brought me to your blog so I can’t wait to see the next one!
Kelsey says
I knew it the moment my browser was acting slow to load the page! There had to be some big news goin’ on! A very big congratulations!

Hi Folks,
CONGRATS!!!!
This seems like a good time to ask…have you considered doing posts on baby proofing in the home? If there’s anything that kills decor, it’s removing small tables, putting brackets on tall bookshelves, putting away floor lamps, removing cute enticing objects from…well…everywhere, and rolling up carpet you don’t want to get…you know.
It would be interesting to see the balance of home vs. safety. And to get a few hints on baby proofing areas that seem to have NO safety gear available (closet doors on tracks, certain types of drawers, weird uneven trim on doorways we had to gate, etc.)
Oooo. Maybe you can design a line of hip baby proofing products of your own? Just sayin’ :)
Love the blog, and best to you!
Dana
