We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.
The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.
(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)
Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.
Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!
Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

Congratulations! I’m so excited for you! I believe you shared a list of names that you considered for Clara, are you going back to that list this time around or considering others? When we had our first daughter, we had two name choices. We considered a ton of other names for our second daughter but ultimately loved our second name choice and went with that. We both loved it and each name was one of each of our favorites.

Congratulations!!!!
Also incredibly shocked and sorry that you had to participate in the accusatory comments re photoshopping. While you do share a lot of your home life readers should never have demanded to know details before you were ready to share. Don’t let things like that affect your day!

Hooray! Congratulations, I am so pleased for you all! x

Wow! Congratulations!! I have to tell you, you know the Horse Whisperer? Well, I’m the pregnant-lady whisperer. LOL. The thing is I can tell a pregnant lady from a mile away and I knew you were preggers about two months ago in some of the photos you posted – SO totally not about weight gain! But then, when no announcement was made, I figured I was wrong. But HA – my record stands and so so so very happy for you, John and Clara. Woo hoo!!
Callye Lawrence says
OMGeezus! I feel all warm and fuzzy inside now; thanks for making my work day a whole lot better! Questions:
1. Obviously you just want the baby to be healthy, but aside from that, are y’all hoping for a boy or girl?
2. On top of that… are y’all planning on finding out the sex beforehand or waiting until the birth?
3. Any name ideas floating around?
4. Sherry: how do you think this pregnancy is/will be for you emotionally? Clean-slate feeling and living in the moment, or filled w/ more anxiety and hyper-vigilance? I’m not sure if that’s too personal or not?
Thanks
Kate S. says
So exciting. Keeping you in my prayers for a safe pregnancy and birth; I have no doubt that you all are not anxiety-free after Clara’s ‘intense’ entry into the world. I can say that even when you have a low-risk pregnancy the second time and have had a ‘normal’ first birth, you are still filled with anxiety anyway! ;) I must have thought ‘Everything was ‘normal’ the first time and my first baby was so healthy, how could it possibly be this way the second time?! Everything is going to go wrong and the baby will have 2 heads!’ a million tear-filled times, and of course everything was (even more) fantastic the second time, as it will be for you. Also, I think you are amazing, Sherry, for having taken on as much as you guys have. Pregnancy (particularly that pesky first trimester) can be so exhausting when you have another youngin’, I hope any first-tri symptoms pass soon for you! Congratulations, and all the love in the world to your sweet family.
Sarah says
Congrats and best wishes, Petersik family! Sending lots of love your way!

Great news guys! When you were doing your book tour I was battling the all-day sickness waiting in line to meet you guys in Toronto. Meanwhile my girlfriend I was with had no idea. I look back at my photo with my flowy, red owl blouse and smirk “he he he she had no idea!”. Wishing you a smooth pregnancy and an uncomplicated birth!
YoungHouseLove says
Haha, I love that story Bonnie! You’re a total trooper to wait in line and fight the vom!

Congratulations!!! I hope the morning sickness passes soon :(! Wishing you guys all the best, this is super exciting :) and by far the best series of photos announcing the news! Clara will be a great big sister, and I can’t believe how big she looks in that photo!?
Hope this means the Nursery scoots up the list!?!
So happy for you all!

congratulations! can’t wait to see your nursery posts!
also, really looking forward to conversations with Clara surrounding this baby. i’m sure she’ll have a lot of fun things to say.

Sherry & John: Obviously everyone is thrilled for you! Congrats! (But I really don’t understand why some people would you ask questions like “Were you trying?” That is really personal and none of anyone’s business! My own mother wouldn’t ask me a question like that, let alone a total stranger on a blog!
Take it easy while you can, because you’ll be crazy-kookadoo-busy when the new baby arrives!
Hannah says
Congratulations!!! Just curious (I wasn’t a reader back when you were pregnant the first time), will you be commenting on how being pregnant affects your DIY projects (ie. can’t spray paint because of fumes, or whatever the effects may be). In any case, such exciting news!!!
Hannah says
I hope you do – it would help a novice DIY-er (and hopefully soon mother-to-be) know what the limits are! :)
Layne says
What AWESOME news! Congratulations! I will say a prayer for a very, very healthy mama and baby.
Amy says
Love this! You guys are so awesomely creative and congratulations for having a new bean in the oven!!
