We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.
The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.
(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)
Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.
Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!
Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.
Jennifer says
Oh so happy for the Petersiks! I’m due in March, and have been all day sick, too. I feel you, Sher dog. Best wishes for smooth sailing here on. And, maybe can you post about being terrified (if you are) of having two? Because I am. And terror loves company. :)
xoxo

I forgot!
My question– Did Katie know on your vacation?
Delia Raats says
Oh my goodness, congratulations!! This is so exciting, we’re so happy for you all!
Sending love and well-wishes from Canada! :)

Ahhhh! So on the first weekend of August I had this bizarre dream that I was in town (Richmond) on business and arranged to meet up with you, like the old friends we are, and at one point we were running late so John left to relieve the babysitter. He returned with sweet Clara in her rightful spot…. and a rear facing car seat!!!!
I was going to e-mail you but both times I tried, my mail crashed. I thought it might be the universe trying to tell me to keep my nose out.
Since there was snow on the ground in my dream, I think we may get to meet in winter 2015!

That’s so funny Lesley!

Congrats!!
Are you going to find out what you are having? Helps with decorating :) You can find out early these days, are you taking a blood test, like Maternity21?
Amy says
Wow! Congrats! Very happy for your family! Not to stray from the wonderfully exciting topic., but what fabric did you use as a back drop? Haha! Sorry… Couldn’t help myself ! I love it!
Katie says
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How exciting, wishing you guys all the best and a happy healthy pregnancy and healthy happy baby!!
Ros says
Congratulations! :)
Self-interested question: HOW DO YOU DO IT. I’m pregnant with my first (due in April as well!) and have basically been sleeping 12 hours a night and craving 2 additional naps a day for the past 2 months.
You’re all productive and stuff! And doing amazing work! And playing with your kid! And spending time with your husband! I’m seriously impressed.
Angie says
Yay!!! I’m almost 8 weeks, and it’s so hard not to tell everyone. (I figure it’s okay to say it here since I don’t actually “know” any of you). That 12 week mark takes for-freaking-ever.
Sorry to hear you’re not feeling well. I’ve got the super smeller going on and am queasy here and there but I haven’t broken the seal yet (no cookies have been tossed). I have a feeling when we drive to the in-laws at the end of this month in rural, mountainous Kentucky, that seal will most definitely be broken, probably several times. Hope all goes well for you!
Vanessa says
Yay! Congratulations!! That is very exciting news.
Teri says
Congratulations!! For a little bit now I’ve been wondering if you were expecting (ever since I read about Katie B, actually) but when I saw that day in the life photo I thought was wrong. Didn’t even think about the fact that it could be photo-shopped (which I totally understand and support!). So all that to say, this was a happy surprise today :-). Best wishes for a safe and healthy pregnancy and delivery!!
CTDC says
Congrats from your fellow expecting mama!
And the people commenting on that other post were so, so out of line. You’ve handled all of this stuff completely correctly and with grace and class.
Hope you are feeling better soon. The unisom+B6 combo has helped me a ton!
Cate says
Congrats! My high risk pregnancy result is now a happy two-year-old!

As a dedicated follower – one who has never been happier for complete strangers, I might add! – I want to apologize for all of the people who make it hard for you to just ENJOY the bliss of sharing such awesome news with your friends and family! Thanks for letting us be a part of your life – you certainly don’t have to (duh!) – but it’s so nice to be able to follow along with a couple/family who is so dedicated to each other, their families/friends, and creating beauty in the world…one house at a time. :) You guys rock!

Congratulations from a long-time reader! Very exciting and best of luck.
As for your boundary-less commenters, they can suck an egg.
I’m pretty glad I’m not a world famous blogger. Every day it would be like:
“Are you pregnant???!!!”
“Nope, that was chips and guacamole.”
“Are you pregnant!!?!?!”
“Sleeve of Girl Scout Cookies.”
“Is your butt pregnant??!?!”
“No, it’s Fun Sized. Like that bag of Snickers I ate last night.”
Erin says
So wonderful- congratulations! I’m due in April too and the all-day sickness is finally (sort of) fading. Bleh. Wishing you a healthy, complication-free pregnancy, a strong baby, and a smooth, peaceful delivery!

CONGRATULATIONS, Petersicks!! I just gave a little yelp at work after reading the good news! I had a feeling it was so…no idea why, but I am so very excited for you, especially Clara!

Congratulations!!!!!! Such exciting news!

Congratulations YHLovers. That is very exciting news. I am the youngest of four, and always wished for a little brother or sister.
I’m happy that Clara is excited to be an older sister. I know how those first kids can sometimes wish the rest of us were never born. ha.
amy @ drivethirtythree says
Congratulations!! SOOOOOOOO exciting! Clara’s gonna be an awesome big sis.
You can add me to the group who shared this news as if it were coming from a very close friend. Though like many, my sister and I met you, so maybe its not as crazy to be so excited :)
I texted my sister as soon as I saw the title of the blog post :)

Congratulations!! So happy for all of you!

Just wanted to send a big huge CONGRATULATIONS your way!

CONGRATULATIONS! I hope everything goes smoothly! I love you guys didn’t even address this question in the Blogaversary Q&A a few weeks ago. I figured you were just sick of people asking.
Betsy says
Congrats you two!!! I hope you feel great as you grow the new bean and how exciting for Clara to have a lil brother or sister to play with (and chat to)!
Wendy T says
Wishing you peace, potatoes and pom-poms!

Congratulations!!! As others have said, thank you for sharing the news, despite rude and intrusive comments you have been getting. I’m particularly (and selfishly) excited for you, because I just found out I’m pregnant with my first and am excited to go on this journey with you guys! And I’m hesitant about telling family because I’m enjoying just my husband and I knowing at this point. It’s a completely personal decision who and when to tell. Anyone who has actually been pregnant should understand that! Much love to your whole family!
Evelina says
Congratulations M! Thanks for sharing the news with fellow YHL-fans!

Congrats you guys!!! Thank you for sharing the news, despite the handful of Negative Nancies out there :) I had no clue it was coming, but I’m not one to search for “clues”. I’m just here for home inspiration! ;) I was pregnant with my bestie during my second and it was so much fun!!
Prayers for a smooth pregnancy and delivery!
Xoxo, Samantha
DawnSC says
Aww, congratulations and thank you for sharing!! Like everyone, I’m sending along good luck thoughts that you have a healthy pregnancy and super easy delivery of a healthy baby this time around!
And can I just reiterate what has already been said by others? You both handle intrusive, rude comments way better than I would and with 100% class. Having had a miscarriage a few months ago, I can sympathize with the pain of responding to questions about another baby. If (when!) we get pregnant again, I plan on keeping quiet/lying through my teeth about it until I feel safe sharing – likely when our hopefully future kid is screaming in the delivery room! :-P Completely your prerogative.
Ok, I wrote a longer response about rude people but then deleted it because it turned into even more of a manifesto than this is. I’ll summarize it as keep being awesome and focusing on the positive comments! :)
DawnSC says
I was so upset on your behalf about rude commenters (who are hopefully the minority of your readers/commenters) that I forgot to include my questions. :-P
1. Do you plan to do anything to prepare Clara for a sibling?
2. Is there something that you did with Clara that you would do differently with baby #2?
Shanda says
Congratulations !!!!
Ashleigh Hart says
CONGRATULATIONS! <3 I just want to say I am so incredibly sorry for the awful comments that were made on the other post. I got sick to my stomach reading them. Although I had hoped the two of you would have another child because you are so wonderful, adorable, and seem like great parents, I'm never constantly obsessing over it. I love your blog for the amazing things you show us how to do, not if you are pregnant. Please remember that for every hater out there, you guys have a hundred fans. We love you! :)
Erin says
So excited for you and your growing family! This post has made my day! I bet Clara is so excited!! Sending lots of good thoughts your way for a healthy happy pregnancy! Think of all the cute clothes you’ll get to wear!! (Sometimes I’m jealous of pregnancy fashion…haha)
Hannah says
WAHOOOO! Congratulations expanding-Petersik family! Like was said above – I’m so happy for you even though I don’t know you. How beautiful does Clara look in that photo. She will be a fantastic big sister!

Oh, how special! What wonderful news! I hope that everything goes planned and that any worry that comes with a high risk pregnancy will be put at ease. Good luck!
Melissa says
Congratulations! If I were you, besides being thrilled that I made it to safety zone, I would be so happy that people will now stop asking me if I’m pregnant or not, and when I plan to be pregnant, or if I know someone who is pregnant, or if I know how to get pregnant. Geez… Sorry you have to deal with boundary issues, that 6th anniversary commentary on photoshopping was absolutely horrifying from my standpoint, photoshop away I say, it’s your body, it’s your business. Magazines do it all the time and people still buy them. I love your blog, love to see the changes in your house and mostly I’m looking forward to another 36 months of growing baby pictures. I was so sad when you stopped taking Clara’s picture every month:(, I love the progression. Hopefully we have another 36 month phototaking extravaganza to look forward to! Wishing you a happy healthy pregnancy.
Theresa M. says
Congratulations! Hope the sickness passes soon! At first I thought you were standing in front of one of your still papered walls, then I saw you were standing on it as well. Nobody papers a floor, right?
Again…joyful news!
