We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.
The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.
(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)
Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.
Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!
Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.
Marcia says
Congrats! My question is about paint since John mentioned Sherry is probably painting something.
I’m about a month behind Sherry, due in May with my second. I basically considered all painting projects to be on hold. Are you guys comfortable with the no-VOC stuff even for preg ladies & babies? Are you just super careful about ventilating, etc? Please share your pregnancy safe-painting strategy. Maybe I can put some of my projects back on the list…..
Ashley says
Congratulations! That is super exciting!
Some rude comments on the previous post, I agree – maybe you shouldn’t have published them, avoid the drama.
Excited to see the baby-related projects coming down the line. Here’s a question I’ve thought aboutf or my future pregnancies: how do you balance home days tuff (painting, etc) with pregnancy? Extra masks? More windows open?
And are you going to do the weekly photo series again? That was so fun to follow. We did it with our kiddo too, minus the cool fabric, and it’s so fun to look back on! Okay, long comment, congrats again!

I can’t wait to hear more (again, not creepy).

First, I love your blog. Thank you for entertaining me every single day (at my desk at work… oops!).
Second, & more importantly, CONGRATULATIONS!! Despite the fact that we’re complete strangers, I am truly so excited for you and your family! And please know that I will be praying/crossing-fingers & sending positive-vibes/calming-thoughts your way for the duration of this pregnancy.
Third, April 5th is a pretty solid birthday. :) Just sayin’.
Thank you for sharing!!

Congratulations! That is such exciting news!
I’m just curious about cloth diapering. Do you think you will cloth diaper bambino #2? Will you use the same brand Clara used or even reuse the ones you had from her diaper days? Did you take your diaper sprayer with you from the old house?
Terry says
Yay! Congrats to the YHL family!!
Brenda says
Congrats to the whole family!
So excited to see what you do for the nursery!

Really, truly congratulations. You are such a beautiful and wonderful family and deserve all the happiness in the world. Sherry are you and momma Bower sharing all the wonders of pregnancy and just having a blast!?

I’m so excited for you all! This is great news. I’m also really relieved that you won’t have to answer prying questions/defend the photos you do or don’t post for a while. Now you can just be pregnancy tired instead of people won’t leave this subject alone tired. I would love to know where in the timeline of home renovations you found out you were expecting. Share if you want or keep it private if you’d prefer. It’s your blog and your baby!

Congrats! I was pregnant when you guys had Clara and now we’re due in the same month with Baby #2! We haven’t told anyone yet due to my super-anxiety, but it’s getting hard to hide, so I’m sure you’re in the same boat..err..bump ;)
Wishing you a healthy rest of your pregnancy and an easy, drama-free delivery!
Diana says
Yay! I am soooo excited for you all! Especially because I am pregnant due in March with my first, so I’ll be very interested to hear all about it and see how the room comes along and everything! Also, you must be excited to be pregnant at the same time as Katie Bower!
Paloma says
Congrats, Petersiks!!! I’m so happy for you guys!
Lindsey says
A boisterous congrats for you all! Being due with my first in March, it’s all the more exciting! I wish you lots of calm and serenity for this pregnancy. Sounds like you’ll be getting a heightened level of care this go ’round and hopefully that brings you peace of mind and protects from a repeated complication. All our prayers and best wishes for a happy healthy gestation!! (p.s. also a perinatal health researcher, so pardon the medical garb)
Sarah says
Congrats to you!! How exciting and what a blessing! Ok, so I did go back and read that *awful* string of comments earlier, and can I just say that when I saw John take over and stand up for his wife I wanted to applaud?? I’m honored to read your blog :-)

Congratulations, you happy people you!

I know you’ve gotten about forty comment pages worth of well wishes, but I just have to add mine to the cacophony. Congratulations, Petersiks! Every time there’s a big life update {moving, showcase house, BABY!}, it takes my mind a while to process and I end up staring at the computer screen like “whoaaaaaa.” (:
Thanks for letting us tag along for the ride, dears! Ahhh, still so excited! *virtual hugs*

Were you trying for a while? If so was it hard not to get sad when KB told you she was preggo.

Congratulations! Very exciting news! If you are addressing questions i would love to know how you stay baby safe with DIY. Such as specific products you use such as primer and paint, and things you avoid doing. I feel like it would help for a stay at mom as well trying to keep her kids safe.
Brandie says
YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!
that is all.

Congrats!! And God bless!

I have a question! Because I’m also pregnant (with our third!), because you are always being photographed (so I’m sure you have perspective on what looks good), and because you have great style, I would love a fabulously wordy reply about how you plan to dress this go around- especially including favorite jeans:) I’m still in that awkward “showing but it looks like pudge phase.” And the weather is in that awkward “it’s October but it feels like July phase”:) (we live in Nashville). Thankfully, however, fall is just around the corner! Anyways, I would love to know what you’re wearing now and what you plan to do!
Stephanie says
Ahh congrats!!! I am due with my first baby in April too! I can’t wait for all the future baby posts and seeing how you design the nursery!
Emily says
Congrats! How awesome!
Sarah says
Congratulations! I am so happy for you all! Hope your all-day sickness disappears soon! Looking forward to following your pregnancy and hearing about all things baby!
By the way, you mentioned in an old post that you might want to invest in newborn cloth diapers. Keep an eye out for seconds sales and you can probably score some good deals! Cotton Babies.com also has hemp doublers that can be added to the Elementals for overnights and naps to boost absorbency :)
Renee says
Congratulations!! So exciting…and I pray everything goes well for the rest of the pregnancy.
Tabitha says
Yay!!! I sure got some weird looks at work then I threw my arms up, & squealed with joy when I saw this post! I know all about high-risks pregnancies, both of mine were. Wishing you a smooth, drama free pregnancy!
*PS – I read the ugly comments from the other day, and you guys rock… I wouldn’t have been able to keep my cool. A woman’s uterus is NO ONE’S business but her own (and her hubby, lol)…
HeatherM says
I KNEW IT!!! Your face looked different in the blogiversary video, and I noticed you guys conveniently positioned the camera at the bust line, which is a little awkward and something you guys don’t normally do. Also, Sheery hasnt been participating in most of the more physical projects lately, so that had me suspecting for a while now. I didn’t want to say anything then because I know if you guys had something to announce, you would do it in your own time.
I am due in May, so I’m still in the throes of morning sickness here. I can’t wait for it to end.
Congrats to you guys. Wishing you a happy healthy rest of your pregnancy, and a piece-of-cake delivery (you deserve it after the last one!)
Sarah says
I agree, Heather. She had that “glow” going on. It could be sweat from all of the “morning” sickness ;-) but hey! That’s still a glow, right? Congrats!
Georgia says
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY
IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU BOTH…wow caps weren’t intential then..ha
i feel like a member of my own family is having a baby, can we all be honorary aunts and uncles please???

Ah, such happy news! Praying for a safe, healthy pregnancy and delivery of the newest bean. Also requesting a play-by-play Clara Conversation of the news. I’m sure she had some fabulous one-liners.
mks says
Congratulations! What great news for your family. You can chalk up the more invasive questions and rudeness to the online version of people touching your pregnant belly without permission. My dad always says, “Some people are just toads.”
KJ says
Congratulations!! Are you guys going to do similar week by week photo sessions with your next one? Loved seeing the progression and then the compile for Clara.
Barbara says
Okay, my question: Since this is a “high risk” pregnancy, you’ll probably have way more tests, etc. than normal. Soooooo, are you going to find out the baby’s sex?
