We’re excited to announce that the Petersik family is under construction again. Yup, someone’s gonna be a big sister… and she’s pretty darn excited about it.
The proverbial bun in Sherry’s oven is scheduled to arrive in April, and we’re both elated to be growing.
(I’ll happily put on some sympathy weight – it’s the least I can do)
Burger, on the other hand, has no idea what’s going on. But he’s generally excited about life, so that’s nice.
Sherry’s first trimester wasn’t without a few trials (a fender bender that had us worried for a bit and some pretty intense morning all-day sickness for the lady-wife to name a few) but we’re so grateful that all signs point to a healthy little bun so far. Given Clara’s birth complications, this pregnancy falls in the high risk category (more on that here and here), but we were excited to reach the safe-to-share milestone so we could spill the happy news to friends and family this weekend (conveniently while Nonna was in town). And now we get to share it with you guys!
Since you’re a curious bunch, we figured we’d answer your questions in a follow-up post on Friday like we did the first time we told the interwebs we were having a kid. So ask away, and we’ll answer as much as we can at the end of the week. Until then, I’m gonna get back to working on the sunroom and Sherry’s going to do her darndest to keep her breakfast down, probably while painting something.

You probably won’t see this amidst the barrage of comments, but my happiest congratulations! I am also due in April (with my first) and it’s exciting to be due the same as you. We kept it quiet until the first trimester passed and it was so hard. I’m sure you were bursting with joy too, despite the apprehensions you may have from your complications. May the Lord take care of you guys during this time.

CONGRATS P’s !!! Wow, this is AMAZING news !
Even though the comments were completely out of hand yesterday, and you guys never cease to amaze me with the class and graciousness that you reply to all that negativity… If it were my preggers self, I am sure some nasty, snarky words would have been typed.
But I really just wanted to say : THANK YOU ! Thank you for sharing your lovely family, and personal/private moments with us. By you keeping it real like this is what makes thousands of us come back on a daily basis. We just can’t get enough of you guys ! Heart ya’s !
Oh, and BTW – I am LOVING the fact that there will now be a new Bower-Petersik baby bonding going on… Maybe another arranged future marriage… Did ya’ll plan this ?! LOL (jk by the way). xoxox

Congrats from Australia!

Aw! Super happy for you guys… I just got out of my first trimester too (due April 5). Finally starting to feel healthy again and ready to start sharing the good news with the world. And it’s crazy how much faster my tummy has grown compared with my first pregnancy! Are you experiencing that too?
Take care, and congratulations to you all!

I’m so excited for you guys – and I hope that you’ve had joy over this pregnancy, above all worries. I look forward to seeing how you guys juggle two kids and making this new house a home at the same time!
There are fun little things about being a high risk – like hopefully you’ll get to see your little bean on video more. It’s unreal how many us we have, they even broke out the 3d equipment when we asked sweetly one visit. We also became very close with our ob due to seeing her so often, I seriously love that woman with all my heart (I think it also helped soften the blow of hospital bills – knowing she was wroth every penny).
Congratulations guys!!
Candy from Candied Fabrics says
Huge congrats for you all! I’ll bet this is the “secret project” you’ve referred to a couple of times! ;-) Or are you working on another book, growing another baby and doing ANOTHER big project at the same time???? :-)

Congrats!

Congratulations! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!!

Congratulations!
Is it silly that I’m feeling a little sorry for poor Weston Bower as he’ll be the only Bower kid without a Petersik counterpart? You need to train Burger to follow him around and be his buddy.

WOW!!! Such exciting news!!! very happy for you guys! As a fellow sufferer of ‘morning’ sickness – I am feeling for you!! Hope it starts to pass soon! Such a happy announcement!!!! I’m pregnant with #3 at the moment & can’t wait to see what you do with the baby nursery :)

Hooray! Congratulations! Hope you are feeling good!
Sherry, I too went through a birth trauma when I had my son and I must say, I am so proud of you. It is impossibly hard to overcome what you went through, I know for me it’s something i have to work through each day. I am terrified of getting pregnant and also want another child and that back and forth is very difficult. I hope and wish nothing but excitement for you as you prepare for baby and for a smooth, easy delivery. You are strong and brave. I admire you!

Aw thank you Laurel. Sending you lots of love!

HI S&J,
‘Jacks Mommy’ here :) Ive written you a few times and you’ve always been so kind remembering who I am and about our loss of Jack. Kind of funny reading this, as I’m now 14 weeks pregnant and high risk too due to the abruption as you had etc. Just wanted to give you a virtual hug, and send my hang in there vibe. Its stressful the next go around for sure, but also so worth it :)
XOXO

Aw thanks Lynn! All the best with your bun!

I am sooo happy for ya’ll!!! I feel like I know you guys because I literally read your blog daily and I just feel so excited for people I don’t even know haha!! Pay no attention to people who make rude remarks! They are just unhappy in their lives that they have to make other people who are happy feel bad!! There always has to be those negative people but you have a lot of people who love you!!
Anyways, keep doing what you’re doing!! You definitely inspire me! :)

Congratulations! Do creating babies count as a diy project? hmmmm And yes, those are the weird type of questions that pop into my head. lol And I’m not currently pregnant or expecting to be soon, but are you thinking of doing a post with tips on what you can and can’t do (diy/home makeover wise) while you’re pregnant?
Bec from Aus says

Congratulations!!!!!! That’s so exciting! We hope to have 2nd but I do not look forward to any all day sickness. That’s miserable. I had all-day lived in the bathroom or carried a Target bag with me when i left the bathroom sickness. For 9 months. Yucky, yucky, ugh.
Here’s hoping you have a safe and non-sick rest of your pregnancy.
Stephanie says
Congratulations! It’s so nice that there will be another Petersik in the world.
Kerry @ First Time Fancy says
Congrats to all of you! What wonderful, wonderful news! I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with such rude people who can’t understand that you deserve privacy whether you put yourself in the public eye or not. You guys are fantastic in the way you deal with those people, and I wish you a very happy and healthy pregnancy! xo
Ronica says
Congrats to all the Petersiks! That is super exciting. :)
Also, a tip from one who went through the barfing all the time pregnancy: Baked Cheetos. I know, sounds gross. But for some reason, when I was eating them, my nausea was gone. My hubby even got me organic baked cheetos because he felt less guilty about it. A nurse told me about it. I have no idea why it worked, but it gave me a bit more empathy for Britney Spears when I realized how well it worked. (I barfed from the smell of water once, so I took anything I could get.)
Best of luck to all of you!

Hooray! April is such a great time to have a baby – spring weather and all! Also, I’ll bet Clara is going to be a fabulous big sister!
I had a terribly tough first pregnancy with my son, and am a bit on the older side, so my husband and I decided to adopt our second. Our daughter was born last year (and will soon turn 1 year old) and our son met her when she was 3 days old. We are pretty amazed at how incredibly sweet and caring our son is as a big brother. He has developed this intense chivalry toward little girls – looking out for them on the playground and helping them out whenever he can. And, seeing them together is so wonderful – he will do anything to make her laugh and wakes up early just to see her! It just makes me tear up when I think that they will grow up together and he will never be an only child – that means the world to us!
Grete says
I can post this on here because my close family & friends will never see it (& we’re not announcing yet), but I’m about 6 weeks along, and a thought I had last week was, “I bet Sherry’s pregnant, too.”
I don’t know why I thought that – maybe because Clara is a couple months older than our first child, and I thought you might be a little ahead of me on the second one, too… Anyway, I can’t believe I was secretly – to myself – right about you guys. :)
Congratulations! And, shh! Don’t tell anyone about ours yet! ;)

Yay! I’m due with my first in April!!! I feel your pain with the all day sickness. You are in my prayers! On the bright side, it lets us know the little one’s still going to town growing in there!
Jasmine says
I am so excited for you guys!!! Clara is going to be the sweetest sister. We just announced that our second baby is on the way, and the most exciting thing for me is knowing how happy my daughter (currently 1.5 yrs old) will be when she sees the little baby. She already a great little helper and takes care of her babies all day long. And not to say that I knew, but I was thinking in the last couple weeks that sherry is looking a little different. Congratulations! one question: how is this pregnancy weight gain/bump showing different than your first? I feel like I blew up the second I found out at 5 weeks. However you look great.
Laurie says
I am so very happy for you. I hadn’t seen the comments thread from the 09/23/13 post and kind of wish I hadn’t read it now. I don’t feel like you have sought celebrity, you are just two very nice people who shared your home renovation. Celebrity found you because good things often happen to good people. Short of sharing the actual conception of this most wanted second child (Please DON’T ha ha) I don’t know what people want from you. Ten years ago, I had my 4th daughter. There is a very big age gap between her and her older sisters. I waited a while to announce my pregnancy because I didn’t want to deal with the haters. When it came down to being called fat behind my back or finally admitting I was pregnant, I chose the latter. I spent the entire day at work fielding alot of rude, hateful comments. Because this is a PG blog, I will keep it clean but after 8 hours of shenanigans I had lost my composure, my cool and finally my temper. A group of women came over and said to me “we cannot believe you are pregnant with your 4th kid. How on earth did this happen at your age?” And I said “And I cannot believe at YOUR age I have to explain how this happened…..I F’ED my husband.” Not one person said one thing to me after that because word got around that I was in no mood to be trifled with. Was I nice? NO! But neither were they. The moral of this story, share what you want when you want, and keep the rest just for yourselves. Famous or not, you still have the right to privacy and you will now have two kids to protect. XOXO Laurie

Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SOOO happy for you guys!

Yay for April babies! I am due on Easter. This will be #4 for our family (4 and final!). We keep our pregnancies a secret until the 20-week ultrasound, so we’ll be sharing our big news at Thanksgiving–should be fun. I am so excited for your family and for Clara to become a big sister. Wishing you all the best.
Raeann says
Gahhhhh that’s so exciting!!! Congratulations :) This world is ready for some more Petersiks. And all while you’re working on your next book, no less!
Meredith says
Wowza! I applaud your ability to remain diplomatic yet assertive in the face of stinging commentary. It seems some folks cannot differentiate between keeping it real and letting everyone read your mail. No one wants to announce their pregnancy involuntarily or under pressure.
Thank you for sharing as much as you do! I much enjoy reading your blog. Hats off to you both for staying classy. Congratulations on your pregnancy!
God Bless!

I was JUST reading Clara’s birth story last night and wondered if you would be having another child soon! I was reading it because I am pregnant with my first, so I’m soaking up all stories pregnancy related. (I’m also due in April!) Again congrats, and good luck on a healthy pregnancy! I’ll be excited to hear your updates to compare with my own experiences.

Oh. My. Gosh! First of all…CONGRATS! yaay! Second of all, I had a very strong premonition about this just this morning.
