This week marked our 1 year anniversary of moving into this house. So to celebrate that milestone (while we work on an office update to share on Monday) we thought we’d drop some infographics up in hizzere. YE-AH, BOY! As an homage to this stat-tastic “before” post, we picked out some fun facts and figures from the last 12 months-ish (and we dropped a preview of our in-progress office project in there for good measure).
For a more all-inclusive rundown of the progress we’ve made over the last year, complete with before & after photos and links to each project, you can check out our (freshly updated!) House Tour page.
Or if you’re in the mood for more Teddy, we just added his 7 week photo. The boy won’t stop growing.
Erin says
Congrats you guys! I just bought my first house last Friday. We can’t move in yet because it’s nasty. We have a ton of things to do before move in and then a bajillion things to do after. I anticipate years and years of work but I think our home will be a great investment. I’m wishing you many more years of DIY happiness.

John, I bow down to you. You my friend, are the info-graphic KING. Nicely done. And awesome as always. (golf clap).
Aoife says
I can’t believe you are living in this house a year already! You are doing a great job. I love watching all the progress. And Teddy is gorgeous in all his photos but he is really stretching as the weeks go on!
firsttimemummy says
Wow you’ve done so well and how cute is Teddy!?!?!
Kate says
I love reading your blog so much! Just wondering how you are feeling after that second C-section. You seem good and your family seems like they are adjusting with aplomb…I remember feeling funny when everyone asked how I was feeling prior to having baby and nobody asked anymore after baby!! How are YOU doing Sherry?
xoxo, K
YoungHouseLove says
Aw thanks Kate! I’m feeling great. My recovery was a lot smoother after this c-section and I feel like I can enjoy the new-baby-ness more this time, maybe because it wasn’t a traumatic birth (I had a lot of stuff to deal with after Clara’s) and maybe since he’s our last (so I’m trying to soak up every second). You’re so sweet to ask.

Oh my…are you guys exhausted just looking at that list?? ha So much has happened! You’ve done an amazing job this past year!
Meghan says
Love the Iggy Azalea reference. Cracking up at work! Thank you for that!
Mandy says
I love posts like this! Infographics for the win!
Nicole @ LibertyBellesBlog says
you know the way to my heart…man do I looooove infographics!
Nikki says
Love your infographics!
Erika says
Rock on with your bad selves, Petersiks! (And I feel like a complete slacker now! LOL!)
I can’t believe it’s already been a year since you moved in! You’ve accomplished so much, all while expecting, and this didn’t even count the show house, right? And so many of your cool updates have been your transitional stage things, frugally done, and packing major wow impact!
Congrats on all of your fantastic and inspiring projects!
Debby says
A year already!!! Congrats Loved this post Must admit, I am much older that you but this girl does like scruff on the right guy. You are rockin’ it John LOL :-)
Sarah Ramirez says
HOLY MOLY! I read your new posts every day so of course I “know” all of this has been done, but to see it in one place makes me need to take a nap (for you guys of course, so you can have more energy for your next project). You guys constantly motivate me to just do one little thing every week (like updating our switches and ReNewing our grout) while we save up to do the bigger “WOW” projects.
Jen says
Seriously! a year! and your baby is already 7 weeks! How does time go by so fast….
… last year at this time my baby was a newborn, now she is running around the house.
Kathleen says
I had to comment because the same exact thing happened to my husband and I a few weeks ago with a mylar balloon setting off our alarm while we were out, resulting in the police getting called. We are having a baby in a few weeks and the balloon was leftover from the baby shower. It is funny now but not funny when we were racing home from being out after getting the call that our alarm was going off!
Diana says
I love you for putting Iggy Azalea in your infographic! BTW, how old do I feel because that video spoofs Clueless, a classic movie from my youth?
YoungHouseLove says
Diana, I’m feeling it too!

Bethany says
When I first saw that picture I thought it was Cher, but I didn’t know what was wrong with her face… No offense, Iggy. I feel so out of touch with pop culture, and I’m only 28! In my defense, I do know her music but I’ve never seen the video. But now I kind of want to.
Jennifer says
I subscribe to your email feed through Feedburner, but I’m no longer receiving the emails. Any idea why? I tried resubscribing but it says I already have. :(
YoungHouseLove says
So sorry Jennifer! We have learned that AOL and Yahoo (along with Hotmail and SBCGlobal) have changed their settings and it blocks all blog subscriptions, but if you use a gmail address it works just fine. Hope it helps!

I love how Teddy never has anything on his feet in his project pics. Too cute. I love baby toes :-)
Stephanie says
I have to ask: WHERE do you shop for Teddy? I recognize the robot piece as Baby Gap, I think, but where else? Too cute! And I have a little guy just a little older than him.
YoungHouseLove says
Thanks Stephanie! Almost all of his clothes are from Old Navy, Baby Gap, Target, or are hand-me-downs.

The exact same thing happened to us right after my son’s birthday party, silly balloons. The problem was we were out of town and it was 3 in the morning! That was a nerve wraxking phone call. The police did a perimeter check and all was fine. I woke back up an hour later with the epiphany that it must’ve been a balloon.
Shelly says
Love these stats posts! The look of this one was especially enjoyable! The sheer number of outlets and frames was amazing! My favorite part (besides your helper and new addition) are the three cheerful doors!
Amanda says
Oh the cuteness!!! Teddy with his teddy. :) So precious. Hoping to move into a new home soon after new baby boy arrives and daddy comes home from Afghanistan. You can bet I’m showing him your blog. He thinks I may be…”slightly” obsessed with your family. heehee
Anne says
On behalf of two small bathrooms who survived 9 years of contractor white, thank you for drawing my attention to Revere Pewter and Edgecomb Grey! What a difference!
I’m rocking horrid beige outlets–you picture of your new ones inspires me. Did you do a post about doing that swap? Will have to browse the archives.
YoungHouseLove says
So glad about those paint colors! As for the outlet switching thing, here’s a post on that.

Jessica says
I followed John and Sherry’s instructions when changing our outlets and they were so easy to follow! And you can buy new outlets fairly cheaply, too. You will love the difference.
Britiney says
Inexplicably this post made me entirely too happy! <3
Catherine says
You are both so incredible! I have been a secret admirer and follower of your blog for a while. I love watching your family grow, and am so inspired your home improvements. I have to ask, where is that “love life” print from? I love it!
YoungHouseLove says
Thanks so much Catherine! That print is actually the cover of a book that I framed (it was a paper jacket I took off and framed). I’d try searching “Love life book” on amazon.com or barnesandnoble.com to see if it comes up.

What a great recap! You all have accomplished so much in one short year. I’ve enjoyed every moment and look forward to more inspirational projects and cool improvements to your home! Many thanks!
Megan Elizabeth says
Are there ever times where you miss one of your old homes? Or any sudden pangs of longing for them? Weird question I know!
YoungHouseLove says
Our first house was like our first love. We got married in the backyard and brought Clara home to that house, so I think it’ll always have a special place in our heart. And of course a lot happened at the second house too (every one of Clara’s birthday parties until her most recent one, it’s where we shot our book, etc) so we have a lot of memories there too. The funny thing is whenever we drive near either one of them we get little pangs. They’re not too painful, usually just something like “remember planting that bush on that super hot day, we should drive by and see if it’s still alive!” or “remember those blinds we hung that took us way too long – I wonder if they redid the window treatments” – stuff like that.

WOW! You guys have really stepped up your info graphic game–LOVE IT! So creative and fun, like always. :) Snaps to you, Petersiks!

LOVE. THAT. POST.
Kathy frimel says
Happy Anniversary! Quite a year- Congratulations!
Emily @ Life on Food says
Love the stats! The paint color one is amazing to me. I thought we have done a lot and we are at 6. Makes all the difference though. As many fun facts that you have when you look at some of the before and afters you would think there would be way more. Goes to show it is the little things that came make the biggest transformations.
Samantha @ Fabulous Fabris says
What a fun post! I can’t believe how much you guys have done in just a year!
Bethany R says
It’s so fun to compare Teddy’s week-by-week pictures to Clara’s! At seven weeks, they definitely look like siblings, but Teddy’s chunkier and has more hair, for sure!
YoungHouseLove says
I love looking at them both at the same age too! Every week after we take his picture we look at Clara’s all together as family (Clara adores analyzing them, but Teddy isn’t very interested, haha!).

This post should be sung to the tune of “The Twelve Days of Christmas”. :) Great year for sure!
Lynn says
No skink in my list, but in a previous house we needed to replace cracked threshold at the front door. Removed the wood and a garter snake slithered out from under the crack and into the hallway.

Eeks!

Same baloon incident here, same crazy police activity.
We always tie them to our bannister for parties, bever had an issue, until heat was on one fibe day, hence blowing air…
Susan says
There’s no way it’s been seven weeks already!
We caught a blue tailed skink yesterday…although my son scared his tail off. We let it go because he didn’t want to catch crickets for him to eat.
Briseidy says
amazing post! love it! congrats on 1 year and many more!
Erin R. says
That might be the most amusing 1 year update ever (in my opinion anyway). Made me giggle several times.

I love the masked balloon! Your sense of humor is wonderful. I get great decorating ideas and tons of laughs at the same time! :)
Stephanie @ Whole Health Dork says
Love these updates! Such fun little infographics. You guys never stop amazing me with your creativity! Happy one year house anniversary! And happy 7 weeks to Teddy!

Remarkable accomplishments. (your little helper and new baby -just adorable!)
I don’t know why, but when I saw the paint color pink cadillac – I couldn’t stop thinking of Elvis! Seriously, the paint choices you made make for a happy looking home.
Cathy says
What a nice post. The fonts and graphics are simply terrific!
Kelly Kohler says
You are a beautiful family and I love reading your posts and watching you all work together :) We steal lots of your ideas… so thanks, you! :)
Sally says
Love this post! What a cool way to do it…and the last picture is ADORABLE!!

Great graphics! I may just be inspired to try and come up with some of my own for my house to get me moving on my own projects.
LeAnn B says
I love it when you guys do info-graphics! So easy to read, entertaining and fun. Wish all my office memos would be like this!! (maybe I can start a revolution!) Everything looks great! Teddy is adorable!
Amanda K says
Your “Three Cheerful Doors” totally caught my eye! I’m a pediatric dentist in Midlothian and we are currently building a satellite office in Chester. I have no design experience what so ever and I’m trying to come up with some bright cheerful paint colors that work together for the new office. It is so hard to find something that works for 1-18 year olds! Any suggestions from fellow readers (or John and Sherry :) would be greatly appreciated.
YoungHouseLove says
Such a fun idea to use them in a dentist’s office! We always love red, greeny-yellow, and teal together (like our Young House Love header :) – or you could do them all bright cheerful yellow or something!
