We had the best idea for taking our home’s curb appeal to the next level. Ladies and gentlemen, we present to you, the gloriously fabulous front yard fountain of our dreams! We know what you’re thinking. You can’t believe how swanky and high-end that fountain looks. Especially in front of our modest brick ranch. It’ll make our house look like a million bucks!
Isn’t that fantastic? Are you guys chomping at the bit to get one of your own? Oh and one more question. Do you remember what day it is? HAPPY APRIL FOOLS!

TOO too funny! Impeccable timing too hot on the heels of your financial frugalness post. Never a dull moment with you youngsters.

MaryGene – YES! I was thinking about porcelain fountains, myself! LOL
jessica says
you got me! I was like, “no no no no!”
Yvette says
Toooo funny! I kept looking at the Photoshop version, thinking…hmmmm, maybe??? But then I was like HELL to the NO!!! I was just about to comment before I even read the April Fools disclaimer. You guys are hysterical!
kristin jo says
My parent’s neighbors installed one of these — gross!
Beth-BTW says
Could have used it for bathing the baby – that’s how we use ours. ;)
Rachel says
Loving re-watching the chandelier and fountain SNL clips, some of the funniest ever!
Abby says
Oh thank heavens. I was wondering there for a minute.. :D
Nichole@40daysof says
Funny! The sad thing is we have people in our neighborhoods who do stuff like that for real.
Jacci says
ha – I was cracking up at Jamie’s comment. Too funny. I’m proud to say, you didn’t fool me one bit ;) I guess it pays to have read your blog for a little while and know what’s up with you two sillies.

Totally fooled me. I was like, Hmm, really? I don’t really love it, but John and Sherry always know what’s up! :) Good one!

Hey ya’ll!
I tried to find a place on the website where I could ask a question and couldn’t…just wanted to see if you knew how to paint plaster walls? Is it any different? My husband and I just bought a house from the 20’s and want to repaint the interior….any thoughts would be great!
Thanks!
YoungHouseLove says
Nope, we have plaster walls so it’s the same process as painting drywall, you might just need one more coat since plaster tends to suck paint up (our walls always need two coats but that’s pretty par for the course so we don’t mind). Hope it helps!

That is so funny!! I was worried there for a second….
busybodyk says

Jeanine says
That’s great! I thought you two lost your minds! haha
Katy says
I sat going ‘hmmmm, I think not. Especially with their house exterior.’ Sorry guys, here’s one girl who knew you had too good a taste to believe it!!
Susan says
Have you revealed your baby’s name. I was wondering if I had missed it. Love your nursery! Your ideas are just amazing!
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Susan,
Nope, the beanette’s name will be a surprise (to friends, family and even us) since we’re waiting to see what name fits her when we meet her in May. Stay tuned…

I kept reading the first few lines thinking I had to be missing something, April Fools day what a relief. We go past a home on our way to a friends home and they have a huge fountain in front of their modest size home. I have almost taken out a curb because I am in such disbelief but to each their own, the owners have to love it right or it wouldn’t be there.
victoria says
Arghh! You totally had me for a minute there. I was trying to give it the benefit of the doubt, but by the time I got to the Photoshop pic, I was thinking, “No way, what have they done?”
Funny!
Nicole says
Oh, thank God.
Lisa in Seattle says
The replies should tell you how many new readers you have! ;) What you really need to set off that fountain are a couple of big stone lions flanking your porch steps.
Ryan says
What’s funny is that a house down the road actually has that exact fountain in their front yard. Its “interesting”, especially in our hood. :)
Heather W. says
I’m hoping no one has said this yet, but if you haven’t seen it, go watch the SNL skit with Scarlett Johannson and Ryan Reynolds about buying a PORCELAIN FOUNTAIN!
One of the funnier things I’ve seen on that show, and it would suit your April Fool’s Day post perfectly!
Samantha says
Truly too regal for your adorable little cottage. PS your Photoshop skills on this one didn’t have us fooled.
Briel K. says
I was like “have they gone nuts?” then I got to the end. haha Nice one guys!
Malerie says
oh my, you got me! I kept squinting, trying to figure out how in the world you both liked that thing :)
Allison says
As soon as I saw it, I thought of that SNL skit. So you didn’t fool me! But you should really think about getting one of these classy doorbells. They can be personalized to anything: http://www.hulu.com/watch/114927/saturday-night-live-new-doorbells
Sarah says
I inherited one of those chubby baby fountains with my new house. Can’t decide whether or not to use it. I do like fountains, but I wouldn’t ever buy this thing myself.
Emily says
Wow, I was about to find a new blog to follow!
Anacelie V.C. says
These fountains are quite common in New Mexico…a kind of Mexican landscaping feature that’s made its way north across the border, along with ceramic suns and lizards adorning the stucco walls of houses.
Carrie L. says
I was really hoping you weren’t serious. Whew, you had me worried!
kim says
oh my…SO glad this was an April Fool’s joke. Well done!
Destiny D says
PHEW!
Liz says
Wow, I wasn’t fooled all day…Until just now!! I’m reading it like WHAT?! Omg, it’s ugly haha thank goodness it was just a joke!
Sarah says
I was like “what?”!!!!
Tracey says
O.M.G… Like, that is the coolest fountain EVER! You guys should, like, totally put that in your yard. But if you do that you’ve like totally got to put a full size statue of David on your porch, right? And you’re totally going to like, need a circular driveway to like, really show of the awesomeness of your new super kla$$y fountain.
Have fun with that!
Kylee says
I’m thinking you should name the baby Casa :)
Christine says
I vomited in my mouth for a moment! ha ha
Carla says
Ok, you had me worried there for a moment!! Happy Easter … Oh and I really love your blog, thank you. :)
Marcy says
I really believed you & I was thinking to myself, “Well, they know better than I do what is stylish, so I guess giant fountains in your front yard are a new trend” :) The joke’s on us!
Ashley says
you got me. I thought, “Hmmmm, maybe I should stop turning to these guys for decor advice. They’ve fallen off the deep end.”
decoriadore.blogspot.com says
Oh my gosh, I was totally like they will look back at this and regret it! LOL so relieved its was just a joke!
Lynn Van Slyke says
HA~HA~
April Fools, you really had me there for a second, I thought someone had lost their mind!
bonnie says
I haven’t had time to read all the comments but get the impression that the fountain is an April Fool joke. I hope so. In my opinion, fountains belong in parks–large parks! I’ve never commented on your blog before but check it often. I’m originally from Virginia but live in Chicago now. My husband and I think that we might retire to Richmond (although I’m from the Shenadoah Valley). Love the “old town” area.
Best,
Bonnie
