Did you get that candy conversation heart reference in the title? Those things crack me up – especially the new-aged ones that say things like “Text Me” and “Tweet Me.” Hah. Anyway, the point of this post is just to wish everyone a Happy Valentine’s Day. And to share some gratuitous Clara pics. These are actually the same photos that we sent to our family & friends along with a funny little V-day card with a Burger-esque chihuahua on the front (gotta represent for both kids, you know). Heck you guys are friends too, so just pretend these showed up in your mailbox:
Gotta love that $1 stuffed candy heart from Target’s dollar spot. Quite the perfect V-day prop when you have a baby who loves sucking on her fingers in photos if they’re too idle. And yes, there was lots of high pitched singing and frenetic dancing by mom & dad to capture these pics. No shame in that. You gotta do what you gotta do when there are three sets of expectant grandparents waiting by the mailbox for their cards.
And on the subject of Valentine’s photoshoots, of course we took Clara’s weekly photo with some heart-y fabric. John even worked some photoshop magic on the week number (which is usually in a circle). Check out the other 38 pics and project deets here.
Ok, enough baby-pics. I’m like an old lady at the mall shoving a wallet insert full of kids photos at anyone she passes. Anyway, whether you’re celebrating V-day with your pet, spouse, neighbor, friend, whole fam, favorite magazine, ceramic animals, or even throwing an anti-v-day party, we hope it’s a day to remember. And speaking of remembering – in an effort to find more balance (one of our resolutions) we’ve decided to take it easy today and just enjoy each others company and celebrate V-day as a family of four (chihuahua included). Especially since it’s also Clara’s 9 month birthday. We can’t believe she’s been “out” longer than she was “in.” Baking her felt like it took forever, but time has just flown since she was born.
We’re not abandoning you guys for reals though. You know we’re nothing if not blog obsessed. We’ll still be dropping by this afternoon with a love-filled giveaway, and tomorrow we’ll be back to our regularly scheduled programming. We might even have some dining table pics to share. Woot. Until then, big wet kisses are coming atcha from the whole Petersik clan. Don’t worry, we don’t have mono.

Love the Clara pics, but you’ve got me curious as to what Burger’s valentines look like?
YoungHouseLove says
They just had a silhouette of a chihuahua on the front- it looked just like him! We’d link to one or share a pic but we sent them all out so they’re gone.

Hi! I have to say I love your blog!! I love your adorable pictures of Clara. I recently discovered a nifty new tool that I thought you guys might like. On http://www.hallmark.com you can upload personal photos, add text and create your own Hallmark Card! It costs as much as it would to buy it in the grocery store but with a nice personal touch.
Thanks again for the blog. As a new homeowner I appreciate the new ideas.

That sounds cute! We’ll have to check it out.

Ohmygoodness! She’s SOOO darn cute!! What a happy sweet little nugget! Too bad for me that having chubby thighs is so adorable when you’re a baby, but not so much when you’re an adult… Hope you guys have a wonderful, love-filled Valentine’s Day!!
robin/burlington,nc says
Love your weekly pics of Clara. It makes me feel like we’re apart of the family. But where’s burger?
YoungHouseLove says
Burger was too hare to wrangle in the pic (he’d rather be sleeping- haha) so we represented him with a chihuahua that looked just like him on the front of the card we sent to family & friends. Gotta get both kids worked in. Haha.

Clara is oh-so-adorable and the pictures you guys capture of her are great! I too had no hair unil I was at least one so my mother would tape bows in my hair for pictures :)
I hope you guys enjoy your Valentine’s Day!
stephanie says
Clara is too cute for words. That first picture just made ma smile like crazy.
stephanie says
*that’s ME, not “ma.”
Hilary @ My So-Called Home says
What a cutie pie! The second shot is adorable. Baby photo shoots always seem to end the same way- either them grabbing for the camera or in tears heh. Do you guys think you’ll switch out her white chair for something else when she gets a little older?
Felicity @ Our Little Beehive says
Happy Valentine’s day! I’d prefer to eat Clara up instead of conversation hearts this year, she’s just so cute!
xoxo
Jane says
She is soooo cute!
I have to say, she is looking a lot like John in these pictures. Hey, I am not hitting on your hubby.
She has a perfect mix of both your expressions, but these recent pictures are coming out more like a “daddy’s girl”.
Happy V-Day to your beautiful family.
Sarah says
What a sweet little girl! She is REALLY resembling her daddy in these pics!
Leeann says
Is she ever in a bad mood??? :) She’s just the cutest. My 2-year-old son Seth agrees, too! I think he has a long-distance crush!
Katie Truelove says
Adorable! What would any of us do without the Target dollar section…?;) Happy Valentine’s Day to you too!
Lena says
I must say – Clara is clearly John’s little girl and it is a pleasure to watch her grow up through your website. Thank you for sharing your “real life” family with your internet family.
Marci says
So sweet! Love the Clara faces :-)

Happy Valentine’s Day!!
This is our first married Valentine’s Day, so we will be celebrating with our favorite dinner–tacos!!
Kelly Morley says
haha! Those hearts are funny, one of ours said “HOLLA”. My 5 year old totally didn’t get it and I didn’t do a great job explaining what it meant. I like the old school ones that just say “cute” or “flirt”!
Alyssa @ Perpetual Blind Date says
Happy Valentines Day! We did a little feature of your blog on ours today! Thanks for keeping us entertained!
Dannielle says
SUPER cute! :) Where did you get that fabric from? I LOVE it.
Kate says
Last year you all started the tradition of writing love letters to each other to open on the following Valentine’s Day. So did you follow through and open them today? Are you writing letters to open next year?
lonely wife project says
Clara’s pics are just too much! Makes me want to have one.
Heather M says
Your kidlet is ridiculously cute! That first face is so totally Sherry (which is bizarre for me to say considering I only know you from your blog), but it’s true. I’ve seen that excitement on Sherry’s face on so many of your DIY pictures. You have a very photogenic bean! :)
Alyce says
Wow, she doesn’t half smile like her mummy, hey?! Love the outfit too!
Jaime from Design Milk says
You guys, Clara is the happiest baby ever. Such a sweetheart.
kat says
You have the cutest little girl, and a great Burger of course!
I love your blog! Happy V day!
Erin says
Oh my goodness she looks like you! So cute.
YoungHouseLove says
You think?! I love all the “looks like you” comments because everyone on both sides of the fam sees a lot more of her daddy in her than me. Wahooo! Mom’s in there somewhere too!
