I thought it would be funny to see if any of those pregnancy myths or predictors like “you’re having a girl if you crave sweets” were true for you guys. So far, I don’t think they hold much truth for me…
Rumor #1: If you crave sugary foods it’s a girl, and if you crave salty/savory foods, it’s a boy. FALSE FOR ME (I craved salty foods both with Clara and the bun – baked potatoes 4 eva, y’all).
Rumor #2: If the heartbeat of the baby is over 140, it’s a girl. FALSE FOR ME (both the bean and the bun have had high heart rates – in fact the bun’s was higher than the bean’s at 170 in the early months of pregnancy while Clara hung around 160).
Rumor #3: You swell more when you’re pregnant with a girl. TRUE FOR ME (I had swollen ankles and fingers – couldn’t even wear my wedding ring – by 30 weeks with Clara, and I’m four weeks from having this bun without any of that this time… probably should go knock on some wood now, right?).
Rumor #4: You have more morning sickness with a girl. FALSE FOR ME (I had morning sickness with Clara until 18 weeks but I still have it – as well as afternoon and evening sickness with this boy bun).
Rumor #5: If you dream about having a girl or boy, your dream is right. TRUE FOR CLARA, FALSE FOR THE BUN (I just knew by 8 weeks that Clara was a girl after multiple dreams as well as this unshakable feeling that there was a little lady in there – meanwhile I thought this bun was a girl since I had the same cravings and morning sickness in the beginning, and oddly enough I didn’t have any dreams about having a boy or a girl until we knew it was a little man in there).
Rumor #6: You carry higher and wider with a girl, and lower and more in front with a boy. HALF TRUE FOR ME (I’m definitely carrying this boy more out front than I did with Clara, who I would’ve described as giving me a wider belly – but this boy was riding waaay higher than Clara until he dropped a little while ago, so that half of the equation was reversed).
Rumor #7: Girls steal your beauty. TRUE FOR ME (this one always makes me laugh – but I did feel like my pregnancy with Clara was full of a lot more swelling and acne and flat looking hair and skin; this time with the bun I’ve had no swelling, less acne, and shiny hair that I don’t even recognize as my own since I’m used to having a dry mass of brillo on my head – the only downside is that constant cookie-tossing doesn’t exactly cultivate that bombshell momma-to-be vibe).
Pregnancy legends aside, I’m just grateful he’s bouncing around in there and the doc says he’s doing great. We’re so excited to meet this little man in four short weeks (he’s due in mid-April), and I’d love to hear which rumors were right on the money for you – and which ones were so off it’s crazy.
Francesca says
I was the total opposite of all the myths, even the chinese birth charts said the opposite gender of my kids. Pregnancy dreams are crazy. The funniest one was with my first baby before we knew it was a girl. In my dream I was showing her to my mom for the first time. I took the blanket off her car seat and she had a full beard. I picked her up and showed her to my mom and said “She’s so beautiful, she looks just like her dad” and rubbed her beard. (my husband has had a huge beard for the whole 13 years we’ve been together). I still crack up thinking about a baby with a beard and that was almost 4 years ago.
Jeannie says
Ha! I had never heard the myth that girls steal your beauty, but I’ll say it’s true for me! At least post-partum. My first was a boy and afterwards, I think I looked pretty normal again. 8 months after having my baby girl, I’ve lost TONS of hair and what little remains is greasy-looking and flat, and very suddenly going grey. I also look a lot more haggard, but that could just be from being 3 years older and a lot more sleep-deprived. ;-)

I had a very random dream that someone was illustrating your third book “Tales of Barnacle and the Bean” in the same vein as “Tales of Beedle the Bard” from Harry Potter. I wish I had any snippet of drawing talent to make this come true for you!

During my pregnancy one night I dreamt I was expecting three little boys and lo and behold, the next day we found out our triplets WERE boys, all three of them! They are sixteen year old now and we love them (and their older brother) to bits!
Darcy says
How fun! I love these kinds of things! I have had 2 boys, pretty similar pregnancies:
1.Sweet vs. salty: True! Definitely with #1 – craved Mexican food like CRAZY! Literally could’ve eaten taco bell every day! With #2 just hungry all.the.time!! Normally I love sweets, but never craved them while preggo!
2.Heartbeat – False! Both baby’s had heartbeats in the 160’s.
3.Swelling – Hmm- I’m not sure on this. With #1, I had to stop wearing my wedding rings by 12 – 15 weeks, but that was the only thing. And same for #2, but it wasn’t quite so early that time – I had to take them off by 18 – 20weeks!
4.Morning Sickness — True! Didn’t have morning sickness either time – BUT I did have this weird thing where I would get nauseous every day while brushing my teeth – Had it both times – a little with #1, but every day with #2!
5. Dreams – True and False! With #1, the minute I found out was preggo, I KNEW he was a boy! And I did have a few dreams with a brown haired boy. With #2, no dreams and I didn’t get any feelings either way until about 17-18 weeks along, when I was pretty sure it was a boy — the pregnancy and the way I carried were exactly the same! And the ultrasound confirmed at 20 weeks!
6.How you carry – True! I carried high and ALL out front — like I had a basketball in my shirt! I still can’t get over with
7. Beauty – True I guess — I felt really amazing with #1, and felt my hair was shiny and I felt like I had that pregnancy glow. With #2, I felt great like that, until I got in the 3rd trimester, and it all went to h-e-l-l!! The last month I was miserable!!

Oh my gosh these old wives tales were in my top 5 list of THE MOST ANNOYING THINGS about being pregnant!! When people would tell me they knew I was having a boy/girl based on how/what I was craving/carrying/appearing and then feel so proud of themselves if they were right seriously drove me UP THE WALL!! Come on people, you have a FIFTY PERCENT CHANCE of being right!!!! I am not impressed by your guesses based on some old tale or your “expertise” from having a kid or two. Maybe its just the scientist in me understanding actual statistics and how all these women who claimed THEY KNOW because when they had a girl it was X, Y, Z but when it was a boy it was A, B, C so it MUST be the same for all women everywhere, every pregnancy, it just bugged me to NO END. Haha! I am not saying that this is what you are implying, you are just having fun comparing, but I guess I was SHOCKED at how many women swear up and down by these “rules”. I asked my doctor and she said “there is a reason why you don’t see any of these things in medically based baby/pregnancy books”.

I loved this post! I’m 14 weeks pregnant, and am anxiously waiting to find out a gender at our 16 week appointment. When I read this post, I had just gotten off work and was trying to figure out dinner. Thankfully my morning sickness has subsided, however cravings and food adversions are changing weekly. Once I saw the part about baked potatoes, I knew what I wanted! My hubby took me to Wendy’s for a quick baked potato, just sour cream. We got home, and it was the most amazing thing I’ve eaten in awhile. Once I was done, I realized just how hungry I was, and wanted another! We took another trip to the Wendy’s drive-thru that night! I’m now craving baked potatoes daily! It’s funny how just reading about a particular food can make you want it!!

So funny! My doc said there’s something in them (potassium maybe?) that makes sense out of the craving. Pregnancy is a mysterious thing, haha!

I always love these sorts of things, it’s so fun to see what was true for everyone! I just had a baby boy two months ago and a lot of them were true for me.
#1 Salty vs sweet cravings: True for most of the pregnancy. I’m usually a HUGE sweets fan but for about half of my pregnancy I just wasn’t interested in them at all and wanted carbs/salt.
#2 heartbeat over or under 140: False – his was over 140 several times
#3 Swelling with a girl: True! I didn’t have any swelling whatsoever until the very, very end and even then it was just a tiny bit at my ankles.
#4 More morning sickness with a girl: True – I didn’t have very much morning sickness, and it went away right at 13 weeks on the dot.
#5 Dreams: True-ish. I didn’t really have any dreams about it being a boy or a girl, but I had a strong feeling from the very beginning that he was a boy!
#6 Carrying high or low: True – he was a low rider most of the time, and my belly was pretty long and narrow!
#7 Stealing beauty: False – I had terrible acne the entire pregnancy and never really felt like I got that “glowing” look.
KC says
Um, when you get a spare moment (ha ha) between being a mom/wife, dealing with the bun, doing the showhouse and working on this blog, would you please post a tutorial on how you do your eyebrows?? Perfection! :)
Young House Life says
My only tip is this: grow them to wooly mammoth proportions. Seriously, giant and bushy. Then you can lightly shape them. For me the key is keeping them thicker than I think I want them, because when they get thin I look crazy (overly enthusiastic all the time, haha).

Most of those were true for me too. I had a boy, and I carried high and out front, dreamt about him, had beautiful skin and hair, and crazy heartburn (he had loads of hair). But the most annoying one was the cravings. I love chocolate, and my brain was saying, “I’m pregnant, I deserve chocolate!” but my body was saying “fruit… fruit… cold fruit and pretzels…” The tension was so weird!
Catherine says
this is fun! I’m currently 34 weeks with #3 but our first girl.
#1 Salty vs sweet cravings: HALF TRUE. I definitely had different cravings with this one vs. the boys but no salty vs. sweet differences. with them it was mcdonalds (double cheeseburger, nuggets, fries and a coke. all at once. it was gross but so good too) and slurpees (like icees but better! ha) and with this one it was soft pretzles early on and fruit and cheese (oh the cheese!).
#2 heartbeat over or under 140: TRUE. both boys were always in the 130’s and she’s always been in the 160’s.
#3 Swelling with a girl: TRUE. I did swell at the very end of my last 2 but I live in FL and had summer babies, that’s inevitable. but I’ve been swolen since a little before 30 weeks in my fingers and toes. :(
#4 More morning sickness with a girl: FALSE!! my 1st I was never sick. my second I was sick from 5weeks to almost 18 weeks. this one was only all day queasy feeling from 7-11weeks.
#5 Dreams: UNSURE. I don’t remember any vivid dreams one way or the other until after we had found out with all three.
#6 Carrying high or low: TRUE-ish. I carried her much higher until about 23 weeks and then she dropped to wear I carreid the boys. and now she’s dropped even lower (at 32 weeks she did) so everyone tries to correct me that I’m having a boy. I’ve carried all 3 like big basketballs though.
#7 Stealing beauty: TRUE!! I lost all the curl in my hair weeks ago, got a funky cowlick, terrible nails, swelling, oh man. :(
all the chinese birth charts have been wrong too, as far as we know. my oldest was conceived around my birthday so that could be true but I’ll never know for sure. haha!
happy and healthy rest of your pregnancy Sherry!
Erin says
I have three boys, so I can’t compare to a girl pregnancy, but most of these were still false for me:
1) I craved sweet with boy #1, salty with #2, and sweet again with #3.
2) All three boys were over 140 until later in pregnancy.
3) I swelled HORRIBLY with #1, barely with #2, and not at all with #3. I never had to remove my wedding rings this last pregnancy. I ended up at the same weight with all three, so I’m not sure how that works!
4) Can’t compare here, but my MS was roughly the same with all three, starting at 5-6 weeks and lasting until 14-16.
5) I dreamed #1 and #3 were girls, even though I felt certain that #3 was a boy.
6) True for me–I was frequently told I didn’t look pregnant at all from the back.
7)Again, I haven’t had a girl, but still varying experiences with my boys–with #1 my hair actually fell out, and never did that super full shiny pregnancy thing. I also broke out in acne all over my chest (??? The things they don’t tell you about pregnancy.) With #2 my skin looked great. With #3 my skin was AWFUL but my hair was nice. lol
So fun to think back on these things! I hope you are feeling very well as your due date approaches! Not too much longer! :D
Kimberly | Turning It Home says
I’ve been pregnant with two girls here! I craved sweets with both of them, so that rumor was true for me! For my first girl, I swelled beyond belief (had to relocate my wedding ring to a necklace) but with my second, I hardly ever swelled. Also with my first, I gained so. much. weight. and wasn’t too pleased in the beauty department but the second time around I was under the impression I could have been in a hair commercial. That sounds a bit conceited, eh?! And in regards to morning sickness, I was friends with the bathroom for my first girl but with my second, I was nauseous A LOT of the time, but nothing ever came of it (TMI?). I even survived a family stomach bug untouched but my “I never got sick during pregnancy” record went down the drain (literally) during labor.
Tamara says
I have a son, Mason (4) and a daughter, Lucia (2) and was extremely sick with both of them right to delivery day. We are now expecting our third (due September) and I’ve been twice as sick, super tired (and not just from chasing the other two) and have never had such bad skin as now. At my 10 week ultrasound we found out why. There are TWO babies growing inside me! Biggest shock of our lives!! I started a personal blog to document the journey and help process some of those feelings and my not-so-grateful response to the news. A few weeks later, I’m warming up to the idea and although nervous, can’t imagine not having twins!
I feel for you with being sick all day and commiserate. It’s hard to really enjoy being pregnant when you feel like someone is turning your stomach inside out every day! Do you have a list of foods you avoid because you’ve had to see them twice? (Once going on and once coming up?) Mine seems to grow longer every week! Enjoy your last weeks as a family of 4! :)

Hi, what a lovely post! My sis is also with child, and we recently found out it’s a boy :) According to her, #6 goes, carry more in the back with a boy…either way, I’m thrilled to have a baby boy to spoil rotten! I remembered a previous post you did, (when she mentioned the size – 12cm!!! of the little guy) about various random items sized like the bean at various stages in pregnancy, any chance you still have a link? I’d love to share with her, and wasn’t able to find it on older posts (despite spending 3 entire lunch times trolling your pages!)

I had a boy last June and all the myths were accurate for me…
Rumor #1 – was true for me! I craved a lot of crackers and toast with butter. Fruit was one of the only sweet items that I really loved.
Rumor #2 – true! My baby’s heartbeat stayed around 140 – 150 after the first trimester.
Rumor #3 – true! I never swelled at all.
Rumor #4 – true! I didn’t really have any morning sickness other than some queasiness that was alleviated by eating.
Rumor #5 – true (ish)! I don’t remember having a specific boy dream so much, but I did have baby dreams and I KNEW it was a boy.
Rumor #6 – half true! I carried high and totally out front nearly the whole time.
Rumor #7 – true! My skin was never clearer and my hair was thick and shiny and beautiful. I was literally glowing.

All false for me. With my son I swelled!!! (I had pre eclampsia) With my daughter I only gained baby weight, literally. I never dreamed about what I was having, my hubby did though. I never craved anything specific. I carried the same for both kids, all out in front. Both heart rates where on the lower side. No morning sickness, i got lots of food aversions though.
debi says
I have three kids. Boy, girl, boy.
I had distinct cravings with each one.
1st was the smell of mothballs. I know, crazy!
2nd was blueberry flavored anything.
3rd was cheese soup from Denny’s.
I only had morning sickness with my daughter but it was so bad that one time I ruptured a blood vessel in my throat and had blood squirting out of my mouth like a bad horror movie! That was a crazy day at the hospital!
I carried my boys like basketballs and my daughter made me more tire shaped all around.
Kate says
Rumor #1: If you crave sugary foods it’s a girl, and if you crave salty/savory foods, it’s a boy. TRUE — I still have sweet cravings almost six months after having her… when I was always more of a pretzel/chip fan before!
Rumor #2: If the heartbeat of the baby is over 140, it’s a girl. True for me, always hung around 150-160
Rumor #3: You swell more when you’re pregnant with a girl. TRUE, I swell like a balloon! Didn’t help I was very pregnant all summer.
Rumor #4: You have more morning sickness with a girl. True, sick almost the whole pregnancy, but I don’t have anything to compare to yet!
Rumor #5: If you dream about having a girl or boy, your dream is right. Not sure, don’t remember any gender specific dreams.
Rumor #6: You carry higher and wider with a girl, and lower and more in front with a boy. True-ish, I was high and front… couldn’t tell that I was pregnant from behind, but from the front – whoa.
Rumor #7: Girls steal your beauty. I felt this was true, but people asked me if I was sure I was having a girl, because I wasn’t “unattractive enough” … yes … that happened.
Leah says
My boy Ben was born with lots of hair, but I didn’t have heart burn. I was mostly belly and carried low most of the pregnancy. He did steal my beauty a bit.y hair was flat and greasier. The second half of the pregnancy I had bad acne. It’s different for everyone!
Kim says
I had heard the exact opposite of #2 and #4 (I heard those were signs you were having a boy). So go figure. Only one person guessed right about my daughter (and it wasn’t me OR my doctor, it was just some random person’s wife).
ashley jensen says
After my girl was born with a full head of dark hair the nurses asked if I had heartburn, which I didn’t. I never knew it was a wives tale until that moment. Before we found out she was a girl at 20 weeks I was always drawn to looking at girls clothes, bedding and stuff like that. Anytime I told myself it could be a boy and tried to look at boyish things it always felt wrong. I hardly had morning sickness, carried her all out front, and had beautiful skin hair and nails. It was pretty pathetic how easyy pregnancy an deliver were minus her being 5 weeks early!
Lindz says
I was 100% convinced #3 was a boy. After having identical pregnancies down to DUE DATE with my first two daughters I was just sure my #3, totally different, sick as a dog, basketball belly pregnancy was a boy fetus. NOPE! Girl #3 apparently just needed to be different. :)
Jill says
After having 5, 2 girls and 3 boys, I’d have to say:
false
false
true
true
false
false
true
I was always able to tell whether it was a girl or a boy by my morning sickness (well, of course there is a 50/50 chance, but I called it each time, I was MuCH sicker with the girls), and I always swelled up more with girls, including a fat, swollen face.
Haley says
Love this!!! I’ve only had one pregnancy so there isn’t much to compare. I did crave SOOOO much sugar when I was pregnant with my daughter. McDonalds hot fudge sundae was my jam last year… or pretty much all ice cream. I thought that was kind of weird because I’m not too much of a sugary desserty type of person so it was all baby.
Otherwise, they all seem false for me. I was only sick a handful of times (please don’t kill me), never felt so beautiful in my life (LONG thick hair, no breakouts, etc), and no swelling.
I love when people list what the different urban legends say when they are having gender reveal gatherings.
Alyson says
None of these were true for me. I had 3 girls and 4 boys (7 kids, enough to really test out some theories) and the only difference for me between them is: I gained less with the boys and lost weight afterward faster (so maybe the girls did steal my beauty?) and my leg hair grew normally when I was pregnant with a girl but slowed nearly to a stop (had to shave once every month or two is all) when I was pregnant with a boy.
Stephanie says
I have two girls and both times, I was craving sweets big-time (I’m usually crave salty things). With my first, I had crazy swelling. With my second, not much at all. I had bad heartburn with both and both were born with a LOT of hair. The younger one lost most of her hair around 3 or 4 months and then grew it back with a vengeance by 1 year old. Zero morning sickness with either of them. The only time I threw up was after they gave me the epidural.

My little Theodore Lee is 8 weeks old tomorrow; he cleared up my skin, made me want cheese enchiladas daily, gave me two lovely weeks of constant nausea, was high up in my ribs until I started pushing, and I didn’t look preggo from the back!! I was blessed with an easy first pregnancy :) Can’t wait to hear about the safe arrival of your little bun!
ashley says
I’ve had 4 boys, & every pregnancy has been very different, except their heart rates were all below 140. I have been crazy swollen, not swollen, craved it all, had great hair, looked like constant dookie, been sick for a long time, & felt great with others.
I was shocked when I delivered #2 & doc said “a boy!” because it had been so different. Now I’d be shocked if I ever got a girl.
Carrie says
I only have one child so just one pregnancy but I definitely knew what gender he was from about 9 weeks on because of a dream. I also was pretty close to his birth weight in the dream. The dream was 7lbs 15oz. and he was 7lbs 13oz but pooped twice before they weighed him so there’s that.
The only other “pregnancy” dream I had was about 2 weeks before he was born when I dreamed my labor stopped and I had to have a c-section. Lo and behold, it’s exactly what happened. Beautiful natural labor that stopped when I was 9cm along.
Albita says
Hi Sherry,
A lot of those are false for me as well. However, the nurse i have told me that usually you have more swellign with the first than the rest of your pregnancies…so that would make sense. I had more swelling with my daughter. I’m now having a boy the first week of may, and I had 4 short weeks of morning sickness with my daughter and with this little boy I was sick with nausea and all day sickness until 5 1/2 months!
I have a question for you though, I know you had an emergency C-section.. I also had one. However, not sure if you’re sharing this info but I’m curious because I’m having a scheduled c-section with this baby and i’m hopign he doesnt come early. I have 5 1/2 more weeks to go and I hope he stays in there until then….I’m nervous about the c-section. Just curious what another mom with prior cs’s thoughts were and what you’re doing.
On another note, they say boys are waaaay more active in the womb than girls, and so far this boy proves that to be true. I also am carrying higher and my belly seems more narrow with him than it did with my daughter.
I wish you a very smooth delivery and a healthy baby boy and quick recovery!!! thanks for sharing all you share!!
Albita :)
Young House Life says

I had morning sickness morning noon and night with my son. I carried hkm high and wide. His heartbeat was high, Dr was sure baby was a girl. We did not have ultrasounds.
When pregnant with my daughter, I carried her very low. Deenas heartbeat was much slower then Daniels. I had NO morning sickness with her.
I had cankles instead of ankles with both pregnancies. Lots of swelling. I gained over 70 pounds with each pregnancy. Only two for me. My skin stayed clear with both. My already thin hair fell out with both.

I was told by a friend that my nose was getting wider and that meant I was having a boy. We chose to not find out what Baby B was until I delivered and she was right, it was a boy. But I was a little weirded out that she had been staring at my nose that much!

I’m currently 26 weeks pregnant with my first (girl), and virtually all of the old wives tales have been false for me! Nearly all of the OWTs pointed to boy for me, and I was even told at my 15 week ultrasound that it was a boy. I didn’t have a preference or inkling either way before that ultrasound, but my immediate instinct was that the tech was wrong, and it turned out I was right!
Have you done those chinese/mayan calendar ones? Those were wrong for me too… But I know some people who swear by them because they have been right for all of their babies.

I have a 2.5 yr old boy and am currently 28 weeks pregnant with baby boy #2!
1. Umm, chocolate covered pretzels? Who’s with me? :) For the most part, it was meat with boy #1 (very odd considering I rarely eat meat although I’m not vegetarian… granted, I was anemic, I guess my body knew what it was doing!) and carbs with boy #2.
2. No idea what either of their heart rates were/are. bad mama. haha
3. My fingers definitely swelled both times so that I couldn’t wear my wedding ring, but not much swelling otherwise. Knock on wood. :)
4. I had one day – that’s it! – of morning sickness with #1 and a good several months of evening nausea with this one. Sherry – I am so so sorry you still have it, that really sucks. :(
5. I don’t think I had any idea with either, hmm…
6. I just carried wide and out with both. The cute little baby bump right in the front is so not me. :)
7. I got acne the first trimester and sporadically throughout with both. I’ve always wanted to relive my teenage years. Right. :-P
Heartburn – I had none with boy #1 and he came out with an awesome full head of jet black hair that stood straight up (it has since calmed down to lie flat and be light brown like mine. I sort of miss the crazy hair!). But with this kid – holy heartburn, batman! Considering I’ve never had heartburn before in my life, it’s been fun. As if sleeping weren’t difficult enough, lying down is the worst.
Despite telling everybody that you have a 50% chance whenever they guess what I’m having based on these, these are still fun to talk about! :)
DawnSC says
P.S. Instead of dreaming about the sex of the baby, my mind apparently focuses on all things that can go wrong and what will I do when I have TWO children to protect. I didn’t track specific myths, but I will say that my pregnancies were polar opposites and yet I had two boys! I was shocked that my body reacted so differently to each one. And they’ve continued to be different in so many ways, so it was very indicative of their personalities.

Good luck! I’m due with my first (a baby girl) around the same time. Just had to schedule a c-section today cause this little bugger is still breech and the manual version was unsuccessful. I was obsessed with these old wives tales when I was pregnant with my first two because we couldn’t find out what we were having (provincial laws). Both turned out to be boys. I thought their pregnancies were entirely different from each other, until I got pregnant with our third, who happens to be a GIRL. Let me just tell you, EVERY ONE of these seven were true, most notably craving salty foods, the morning sickness (just about murdered my husband when he talked about how he had to puree roast beef at his job one day), and girls stealing beauty (hello, acne face for months on end!).

Both my pregnancies were girls, and they were both totally different. I did have *way* more swelling with my first pregnancy–so bad that I had to wear a wrist brace because of a condition that the swelling caused. No wrist brace, for the second pregnancy! Yay! But for both pregnancies, I craved BOTH sweet and salty foods. My favorite is the time that I didn’t realized until my husband walked into the kitchen that I was sitting at the table with a vat of Cozy Shack chocolate pudding, and an open jar of Vlasic dill pickles….just sittin’ there, compin’ away on both without even realizing how stereotypical it was. The morning sickness was the same both time–lasted the whole pregnancy, and all day long. And with both, I went through a phase in the last trimester where I had the taste of metal or aluminum permanently in my mouth. That was awesome. But at only five feet tall, I carried both babies the same way: everywhere there was a spare inch and then some.

These were all false for me for all three of my kiddos. Everything except the heartburn thing, because I had wicked heartburn with all my kids and they all had lots of hair.

The dream one is definitely false for me lol. I dreamed I had a girl all wrapped in a pink blanket and when she was handed to me I unwrapped her and it turned into one of my dachshunds in the pink blanket. Turnes out I didn’t have a girl or a dachshund but a nearly 10lb baby boy.

I have a 19 month old boy and we just found out yesterday that we are having a GIRL! (18 weeks currently) Definitely craved more sour candy, red meat and orange juice with my boy…not into sweets. This time very into sweets, fruit, chicken etc so I had a good feeling things were different. I feel like I’m carrying higher..hmmm I definitely feel “less attractive” this time around haha I feel like a lot of them held true for me…Oh except sickness, with both babies I was nauseous from weeks 6-11 but no cookie tossing. I can’t even imagine! Can’t wait to meet the bun :)

also I had TONS of dreams that this was a girl! Just 2 nights ago I had 2 separate dreams that it was a girl. Every time I thought it was a boy in there it just didn’t feel right. I knew my son was a boy too! Mother’s intuition for the win.

Three of my friends and I recently all had babies within 4 months of one another (between Sept 2013 and Jan 2014)- 2 boys and 2 girls. The ones pregnant with girls had the nausea and the heartburn and all of the unfun things. My friend and I that were pregnant with boys were nearly symptom-free.
I definitely craved salty/savory food (I normally LOVE sweets), I carried my son VERY high and out front, I didn’t get swollen until the very end, and people definitely told me I looked radiant. Also, I never had a dream about gender (although I knew it was a boy from the start, but we didn’t actually find out gender until the birth), but I did have a dream that I handled labor contractions really well and that they were fairly easy, which DID end up being true for me (I had an unmedicated birth)!
Pregnancy is a funny thing. Can’t wait to hear about your experience with bun in a few short weeks!
