As bloggers we answer plenty of questions (especially when they have to do with painting cabinets, upholstering headboards and hanging art). But we wanted to take some time out of this week’s blogiversary extravaganza to answer a different breed of question: the personal one. Taking a cue from some of our other favorite bloggers who opened themselves up to a little Q & A, we recently asked our readers on Facebook and Twitter to ask us anything, particularly things not about home improvement or the blog.
We ended up with some familiar queries (“will you two just have a baby already?” “have you been approached for a TV show?”) and some unexpected ones too (“do you ever swear?” “who is the messy one?”). Needless to say, they all kept us chattering away. So check out the video clip below for Part 1 of Getting To Know The Real Petersiks (there were so many questions we broke ’em up into two videos, the next of which we’ll share next week) or catch it here on YouTube:
Did one of our answers spawn a new question? Or did you think of something else entirely that you just gotta ask? Leave your query as a comment and we just might end up filming a third installment someday. After all, we’re Chatty Cathys when you get us going…
Psst- Check out part two of this video right here.

Love the video (and secretly pleased mine was the first question!!)…
Can’t wait for the second installment.
Jeannine @ Small & Chic says
New question here: Do you remember some of the “regulars” who post comments? I see certain names on the comments fairly often, but I imagine that after a while, all the comments are a blur.
What do your “real life” friends think about all of this? I imagine that certain activities (shopping, eating out at a cool restaurant, taking a garden tour) give you ideas for new blog topics. Do they “get” how big this blog is?

just wanted to say… this was my favorite video that you’ve done to date!! thanks!!

LOVED this video! And for what it’s worth, I would totally watch a show about you guys.

Love the video and your blog! Happy Blogiversary!
I do have a question – do you have a daily schedule you stick to so everything gets done? Like, 9am – 10am: read email, 10am-12pm: blog posts, etc, etc? Just curious how you do so much. Is everyday the same, or do you mix it up according to what you feel like doing? And how often do you get off track or take breaks?
Thanks for all your inspirations!

funny! plus i’m glad to know that i’m not the only one that has to nag my hubby to get things done around the house. :)

Okay, I finally had time to watch your video uninterrupted, and I was laughing out loud throughout the whole thing! I especially loved the Burger part. :) You two are so talented. I hope the right show really does come along for you sometime soon!

Great video! My question is: Is there anything you’ve done in your house (remodeling or decorating) you both didn’t agree on or had to talk the other into?
You guys rock! Love the blog!!!

You guys are Too. Freaking. Cute.
I have trouble thinking up questions that aren’t totally inappropriate, so that’s all I have to say. A-dorable.

Morning Y’all!
I’m rather new to site. Am loving the videos! To quote Bruno from Dancing with the Stars:
“You should be a ride at Disneyland”.
Thank you for ALL you do. Keep up the good work :)

Hey guys! I just recently came across your site and I am hooked! You’re very charismatic and a joy to watch/read. I was stunned to find out that you cut your own hair Sherry! I’d love to see a DIY Haircut video. Haircuts are not cheap and all I ever need is a trim. I’ve always been tempted, but have never had the guts to go about it.
So yes, this video spawned my questions “What prompted you to start cutting your own hair and can you please show us how you do it?” okay and one for the fellah “Do you DIY haircuts as well?” and Burger “Woof, arrr….grr ruff!?”
Christa M says
and one more thing to mention…..Sherry, I adore the way you look at John….I can see the love there and that is awesome!
YoungHouseLove says
Aw thanks Christa! I actually do cut John’s hair too. And Burger is a no-groomer-necessary dog, which we love. I guess we’re a low maintenance family. I’m not really sure there’s a method to my hair cutting madness that can easily be demonstrated but on the next “haircut day” I’ll try to figure out if I can quantify what I’m doing in any way!

I love your video! You two are awesome. I first came across your post about how you organized your own wedding by yourselves. That kept me reading and reading and reading … and I’ve never been disappointed. Great job guys!

You guys definitely have the personality and presence to be on tv :) I love watching your videos! The entire family is too cute. I’m a big fan of yhl, and try to visit here everyday.
Maggie says
hi guys! I am very curious about how you organize your calendars! do you have a small book that you share and write everything in? or a fancy wall calendar system from Pottery Barn or similar? do you have one calendar or do each keep your own? maybe this could be its own blog post :)
YoungHouseLove says
I have a small day planner and we just write in it. John asks me what we have going on and writes things in it too. It’s old school, but it works. Haha.

Seriously can we meet?!! Ha, you two are adorable and hilarious!! Happy blog anni :)

So was this video recorded BEFORE Sherry got her hair cut, or does her hair just grow super fast? :)
YoungHouseLove says
Hey Robin,
This video is actually a couple of years old (from our 2nd Blogiversary in 2009) so it was waaaaay before she got her hair cut. :)

You guys totally blew your disguises! Very funny. Thanks for sharing. I’m happy to hear you haven’t had any scary blog stalkers. I passionately disagree with my hubby too but w\out name calling. As Dr. Phil said – we all fight – it’s how you fight that counts.

you are so funny :D record and show us your home, please….
Jill Stigs says
When are you going to paint your kitchen cabinets for the love of Pete?
YoungHouseLove says
Haha, as soon as we figure out what the heck we’re doing about our microwave (it has to move because it’s too low/not to code) and we have to replace our wall over and do a few other things before painting. Just don’t want the fresh paint to get dinged up later on so we’re trying to go in a smart-ish order. Haha.

So fun! Thanks for letting us in your lives for a bit. It’s the next best thing to having us all over for dinner at the same time (and alot easier to clean up after). ;)

I must have missed the Q and A post. After reading your fridge post and feeling unmotivated to cook lately, just wondering what kinds of things you all make for meals? It seems like you all eat pretty healthy (and splurge too- ice cream). I am usually a really good cook and baker, but now that I have two boys and ditched cable to save money, I’m a little worn out by dinner time and have been unmotivated since I cant watch my beloved Food Network anymore. I’m always looking for new ideas/inspiration around the house and in the kitchen! Thanks!
